CVSS scores for a CVE can vary wildly depending on who scored the CVE. CVE numbering authorities (CNAs) often score the CVEs they publish which then would get rescored by NIST NVD, often leading to higher CVSS scores. Many CNAs stopped scoring CVSS because of the duplicate work effort and wasted time going back and forth on why a CVE was scored differently by NVD. In order to capture this dynamic, I’ve drawn a comic of CVSS Tug-of-War depicting CNAs and NVD battling out the CVSS score of a CVE. Enjoy! #cybersecurity #infosecurity #riskmanagement

The NIST has updated the widely used Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), its landmark guidance document for reducing cybersecurity risk.  * Extended to all Areas - The new 2.0 edition is designed for all audiences, industry sectors and organization types, from the smallest schools and nonprofits to the largest agencies and corporations — regardless of their degree of cybersecurity sophistication.  * The CSF 2.0 builds on the existing five basic functions (Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover) and has been updated to include a sixth, Govern. * NIST's CSF 2.0 also addresses supply chain risks. #cyberdefense #nistframework #nistcsf #nist #cyberaware #asd #ciso #cisoseries Sean Hugo
