Reading the Drawdown editorial from their edition covering retail markets and private capital with interest and amusement - I was never aware that my practice area was so linked with Valentine's Day (not sure equating the two would land particularly well at home though....) While there are lots of good points made, my view is that (as ever) there is no one size fits all. "Retail" covers a massive variety of investors and there will be a number of different needs within that community - there are significant differences (risk and structuring) between an alternatives fund being marketed through private bank networks to high net worth clients who can afford a minimum of 25k per investment (or higher) as compared to an ELTIF being marketed across Europe through adverts to retail consumers on internet banking platforms, for example. There is not a single right or wrong answer for everyone here but there are the right tailored solutions for the right clients which is why I think alternatives and individual investors is a match for the long term - like in real life though, people just need to be partnered up with the correct other half for it to work #retailisation #privatemarkets The Drawdown
