It’s hard to believe CopperFox is about to turn two. The pic below is from our launch party at Non Solo Pizza in Parnell , which feels like a lifetime ago.
Reflecting on our journey here are 10 observations from the last couple of years.
1. It’s so important to get the brand right and the messaging around the brand.
2. You can’t please everybody so don’t try to. You will find your soul tribe of clients and organisations that want to work with you.
3. Authenticity is paramount. Clients will only work with people they like and trust.
4. You may end up somewhere different to where you started. Let your client requirements define what you offer.
5. As co-founders play to your strengths and ensure there is clear delineation with who is responsible for what.
6. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Embrace humour in day to day business where you can and where it’s appropriate.
7. While social media is a must think of innovative ways of connecting with your potential clients in the real world.
8. Ensure your financing is appropriate to support the business as it scales up.
9. Speak to your clients on what their personal aspirations are as the advice you give them in their business will depend on their timeline and risk appetite.
10. Ensure you have a properly drafted shareholder agreement that covers all scenarios for succession planning.
The last couple of years have been challenging but we are building momentum and are proud of what we’ve achieved. Thanks to everyone that has helped us along the way. You know who you are. Rob and I are grateful.
