“Attitude, attitude, attitude…”   Our Pricing & Product team has held the last two days the first face to face townhall meeting in Kassel. We as SEAT | CUPRA, are leading these for all four BGC within the frame of ONE.Aftersales.   We were there 88 people together coming from five different locations, #Kassel, #Hannover, #Wolfsburg, #MladáBoleslav and #Martorell, under the aim of reviewing the status vs. year targets and the strategic projects in place. Main takeaways:   - Enterprice as our new Pricing system already rocketing to the galaxy 😉 and moving through the cyberspace of our HQs at full speed for implementation this year. - The new product management set up already on track: Common approach by HPGs and products with action plans in the top 10 EU markets. - Oil global tender for 2025 already closed and on preparation phase for markets implementation. - Tyre business: New business plan with 6 core fields in place. - New Paint business model involving all Brands and with a market implementation approach. - New steps on #CircularEconomy and sustainability approach, with initiatives for Used Part business and raw materials recycling on Catalytic converters. - #AI and #PowerBI already ON and real within our cluster, delivering new inputs based on identified business use cases.    Thanks to all Presenters and project Leaders on the stage for the presentations and for the high-quality work behind: @RainerHämel, @SteffenBachmann, Kristian Kremer, Juan Sánchez, Frank Leitner, Roman Havlásek, Silvana Guida, Sylke Klapp, Julia Schmidt, Thilo Halbritter, Michael Eigen, Florian Knauer, @ChristianWeilguny, Dr. Matthias Priebe, María Armario Romero, @Volker Rudolph, Anna Mateos Sabaté. 🚲 The tale of 2 premium brands caught my attention this week 🚲 Colnago and Rapha need no introduction nor explanation from me about their products - Neither, unfortunately, is it news that a top company in the cycling sector is experiencing difficulties in the current climate 🚲 Maybe the question should be 'why is Colnago enjoying so much success?', after all they are selling some of the most expensive road machines at a time when: - Shimano sales are down - Specialized announces big discounts - Trek are discounting like crazy - Van Rysel enters the market with a very-competitively priced quality road machine - Probably every other company you can think of is cutting prices to clear inventory 🚲 So how can Colnago keep its prices high and increase turnover by over 100%, while Rapha closes its US store? - Both companies have long-term presence in the pro peloton, Colnago are currently supplying Team UAE, while Rapha have worked with Team Sky/Ineos, and now EF Education First in the men's peloton 🚲 On the face of it they should both be enjoying some business success, as a result of good publicity gained through their sporting and performance successes 🚲 But that's obviously not the case, so what do you think are the reasons behind the great, and not-so-great results of these firms? Almost everyone is familiar with the iconic red and yellow branding of logistics company, DHL. But not many people know that this iconic branding may have come from its sponsorship of a Formula 1 team 🤯 🏎 Back in 2002, DHL became a sponsor of the Jordan Formula 1 team, following its acquisition of previous sponsor, Deutsche Post. As part of its sponsorship agreement, DHL asked for a special livery on the car in its (then) brand colours - red and white. The owner of the team, Eddie Jordan, agreed. But there was one small problem. Under the team's contract with its main sponsor, Benson & Hedges, the livery of the car had to remain in line with B&H's brand colours: yellow, black and (crucially) red. So, in an effort to keep all sponsors happy, Eddie Jordan came up with a solution - DHL should switch its brand colours to red and yellow. In a podcast with David Coulthard, Jordan recalled his conversation with the directors of DHL: "You've asked me to try and make DHL the largest logistics brand in the world, and in the current situation, I can't do that... every marketing guru will tell you that you should never change the colours of your brand, but here you must bite the bullet and pay the expense for long-term gain." Amazingly, DHL agreed and even now, two decades later, it still carries the red and yellow branding. Some people have disputed Jordan's account, and DHL itself maintains that it was its takeover of Deutsche Post that resulted in the red DHL font being given a yellow background. But, even if it's not true, it's still one of my favourite stories in Formula 1.
