Continuing my experimentation with custom-trained models in various scenarios, I extended my focus to physical urban models. I developed a custom model specifically for physical urban design at a particular scale. After experimenting with the neighborhood scale, I moved to a more zoomed-in scale to incorporate the physical attributes of the model, various urban typologies, contextual restrictions, and the integration of green spaces. The results seem satisfactory. Now, I am wondering if we can also do the same for particular floors of the urban typologies with respect to different functions, and how those functions can be integrated in the existing typologies. #ArtificialIntelligence #UrbanDesign #Design #Architecture #ComputationalDesign #GenerativeDesign

Let nature in! It's pretty widely understood that interactions with nature are good for us. Most of us will have felt our stress levels drop while walking in nature, experienced the energy rush that comes from a cold dip in the ocean, and have been captivated by a Pīwakawaka swooping right in front of us, but what about nature in our homes, in our architecture? We usually seek the benefits of exposure to nature when we're on holiday, or on the weekends - yet we spend most of our lives in our homes. Creating these human-nature connections has become a core principle in my architectural design process, and it's creating some beautiful results. Biophilia connects us to place and landscape. We also know that place and landscape are both cornerstones of our Indigenous Australian culture. It raises an important question as to whether biophilic design can meaningfully connect the built environment to the world’s oldest living culture. Bunji Place, designed by fjmt Architects, is a community and arts building located in Narre Warren in suburban Melbourne. It explores this question specifically, through the use of many biophilic principles as well as the project's naming after Bunjil the Creator. The architects used a grand woven timber structure, with a sense of flow and movement, as the entry to the building. A generous gesture, enhancing light and a feeling of connectedness to the outside. The natural materiality and its formal reference to a wedge-tailed eagle have a direct relationship with the natural world and our indigenous history. Urban Edge Church • Pinehurst, Western Cape   The design of Urban Edge Church captures a contemporary expression. Unlike more traditional architecture, its facades don't immediately reveal the typical church archetype. Instead, the design artfully incorporates nuanced elements that cultivate an atmosphere inherently associated with places of worship. Whether buildings and structures are lit naturally or artificially, lighting is the medium that allows us to see and appreciate the beauty in the buildings around us.
