Women have been historically underrepresented in the field of architecture. The number of women enrolling in architecture programs has been increasing. However, the transition from education to professional practice often sees a drop in representation. We advocate for the involvement of diverse teams in architectural projects, reflecting the complexity of real-world scenarios. While women significantly influence design and bring qualitative value to projects, the architecture industry still falls behind other professional service sectors in terms of the percentage of women representation.
Women, especially those belonging to underrepresented groups, often encounter obstacles in pursuing leadership roles. Embracing inclusion enables organizations and communities to unlock diverse perspectives, fostering improved decision-making and innovation. Let's collectively dismantle barriers, defy stereotypes, and establish environments where every woman is appreciated and respected. Let's acknowledge and value the unique viewpoints and contributions of women, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds.
In honor of International Women's Day and Women's History Month, we want to recognize the extraordinary women of modus studio. They inspire us all daily, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and leadership while working to positively shape the world around them.
