We thank our brave veterans across the U.S. today with this post, and every day by celebrating our ongoing partnership with @americanhumane’s Pups4Patriots program. This partnership has given us an opportunity to donate close to $1M to train dogs in need of a forever home who provide comfort to veterans and first responders. A quote from Andrew, a veteran of the program, illustrates the profound impact this has had on his life: "This program provided a deeply meaningful experience to me. Through the partnership with a service dog named Apollo, you have provided me – and undoubtedly many other veterans – a chance to feel peace, calm, and support in my life. A sincere thank you to the American Humane staff and to all the donors who support the Pups4Patriots program. My life is forever changed.” More than 207 dogs and veterans have been matched to-date. This weekend, we’re going to race across more than 200 miles through 15 towns on Cape Cod with up to 20-pounds on our backs… Sure, it SUCKS, but do you know what SUCKS even more? It SUCKS to lose someone you love because there were no programs or services available for veterans, who suffered silently after active duty. According to recent surveys, almost 44 veterans kill themselves each day – and that’s 44 veterans a day way too many. The unintended consequences cut deep, reach far and last forever. No one should ever have to experience it, but, unfortunately, many do. How can we help? We can support AMAZING organizations, like HEROES IN TRANSITION INC , that offer unique programs and services to build stronger relationships and better communities for veterans, active service members and their families. ***So, you may be thinking… If it SUCKS, then why do we do it? Simple. WE DO IT – and will continue to do it – FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T.*** Please consider supporting the cause. #HeroesInTransition #Ruck4HIT #4ThoseWhoCant https://lnkd.in/eUr-hxWc

Hi LinkedIn friends! I am taking on the Army-Navy 100 Mile Challenge. All donations, support, partnership, and accountability is encouraged, as I begin logging miles on Dec 1 but am accepting donations starting now! Suicide rates among active-duty military members are currently at an all-time high since record-keeping began after 9/11 and have been increasing over the past five years at an alarmingly steady pace. In fact, some branches of the Armed Forces are experiencing the highest rate of suicides since before World War Il. In 2021, research found that 30,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide - compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years. That is, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations. For military families and parents, whose active duty loved one already sacrifices so much to protect our freedom, this trend is extremely troubling. l am not a runner but decided to take on this challenge to show solidarity with the brave people who continuously serve us everyday. 100 Miles is hard but it is nothing compared to the Mental Health struggle our service members often face. As a younger sister to an active service member who has mourned more than anyone should, it is important that we begin to have these hard conversations and offer support, even if we are just civilians. Thank you for your support and donations! https://lnkd.in/ecgJwAMe

Social value is something close to my heart and something we at Littlefish have taken seriously before it was fashionable or encouraged by buying organizations. That's why I was grateful to spend some time on Friday with Billy MacLeod MBE at his Veterans in Action Charity. The statistics he shared were eye-opening. Between 2000-2021, 33.8 Armed Force members, per 100,000, committed suicide, compared to c22 per 100,000 in the general population. That's 53% more. Younger veterans, under 35, are 2-4 times more likely to commit suicide, and sadly, more serving British service personnel have killed themselves since 1984 than have died in combat. But it doesn't have to be this way. The key to helping our veterans is in specialist support, provided by veterans, for veterans. And that's exactly what Veterans in Action has been doing since its inception. The thousands of veterans, and their families, that they have supported can attest to this. Listening to the veterans on Friday, really opened my eyes, including listening to one medic who had to carry back a bag of colleagues' limbs to the medical facilities in Afghanistan after an explosion. However, none of this specialist support happens without donations. So, if you are looking for a new charity partner, or even have charitable contributions available to offer, Billy MacLeod MBE would love to hear from you. Together, we can make a difference and support those who have made great sacrifices for our country. #asrealasitgets #armedforces #veteransinaction #veterans #mentalhealthawareness #ptsd

Happy Veterans Day! We should all take a moment to reflect on what we can do to support veterans everywhere. How can we use our votes, our time, our charitable contributions, and our personal relationships to support our warriors after they come home. The sacrifice most people think about happens on the battlefield, but the sacrifices veterans make doesn't stop there. And so we must raise awareness and fight for the rights and wellness of those who were willing to fight for us. Give them comfort, support, and care. Respect their sacrifice with more than words because they honored their commitment to us with more than words. And stand by them even when it would be more easy to look the other way or forget the incredible gift they gave us, to live free and at peace. Consider this, over the ~20 years our troops were at war in Afghanistan, we lost 6, 241 U.S. lives on the battlefield. However, the more striking statistic is when you discover that we currently are losing more veterans to suicide every year, than that total number of battlefield casualties over 20 years. Between 16-22 veterans are lost to suicide every single day and have been for every day since 2001 when the war on terror began. This is the cost of war and this is why we must do better to support our veterans after they come home. So this Veterans Day, I ask you to consider supporting the Wounded Warriors Project, Flanders Field, or another non-profit of your choice that defends, cares for, and supports our troops after they return home with wounds they will carry for a lifetime. https://lnkd.in/eVPkuwY4 https://lnkd.in/etD88FG4 And if you want to get more informed on what our government is doing (or not doing right now), take a look at https://lnkd.in/efkHB3rY

Today is the day we recognize and honor those veterans who have served our Country. But we must remember that although they have completed their duty and mission, there is another battle that many are still fighting. Mental health struggles are real for many of our veterans, preventing them from living full, flourishing lives and living out their purpose here on earth. And some are literally fighting for their lives. Every day, 22 veterans take their own lives. And veterans are 57% more likely to commit suicide compared to non-veterans. Enough is enough! We must equip them with the best possible weapons. This is where Warrior Spirit Therapies, a new local non-profit organization, comes in. Through wilderness therapy, Scripture, and the power of Jesus Christ, veterans in our area are equipped with the tools needed to fight this battle—including the internal spiritual battle many of them face. We’ve already helped dozens of veterans in our area and still have a long way to go. We’re looking for people to join our team as prayer warriors! And if led to do so, donate to the cause. All donations are tax-deductible. Whether you are a veteran in need of support, know of a veteran and would like us to reach out to them, or would like to donate, please visit www.warriorstherapies.org James 2:22: You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. #mentalhealth #Veterans #VeteransDay2023 #scriptures #america #unitedstates #army #navy #airforce #marines #coastguard #Jesus

It's #NationalDonutDay! What's your favorite kind of donut? Let us know in the comments. Every year on the first Friday of June, Americans celebrate National Donut Day to honor the Salvation Army Lassies, the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the First World War to lift their spirits. This tradition began in Chicago in 1938. We "donut" know what we would do without all of our wonderful clients! #GJMAccounting #accountingandaccountants #smallbusiness
