In relationships where substance use disorder and codependency coexist, the dynamics can be deeply harmful. Codependency often involves one partner enabling the other's addiction, creating a cycle that perpetuates both the addiction and the unhealthy relationship patterns. This dynamic can lead to emotional turmoil, loss of self-esteem, and neglect of personal needs. Recognizing these patterns is crucial for recovery. Seeking professional help and establishing healthy boundaries can empower individuals to break free from this cycle. As a certified Recovery and Life coach, Amanda Marino brings her expertise to the forefront in addressing the complex interplay between codependency and addiction in relationships. Her recent feature as an interventionist on A&E's "Intervention" Season 25 sheds light on this critical issue. Reflecting on my journey into the field of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, I am reminded of the profound impact my brother’s battle with addiction had on me. Losing him was devastating, yet it was this tragedy that propelled me into this vital area of work. I firmly believe that compassion and understanding are non-negotiable when it comes to treating individuals grappling with addiction. Every person struggling with SUD deserves empathy and respect - replacing judgment. It is this principle that guides my approach every day—to offer care and support rooted in compassion, recognizing that behind every diagnosis is a human being deserving of dignity and hope. Let’s continue to prioritize compassion in SUD treatment; it can truly make all the difference. #SUDAwareness #CompassionateCare #EndTheStigma

We believe in the power of group therapy to bring about positive change in the lives of our guests. Facilitated by one or more of our addiction therapists, group therapy sessions at Royal Life Centers can be highly effective in treating substance use disorder. A group setting can organically create a support network, and group members often help one another devise solutions for issues and hold one another accountable. Sharing with others can help group members put their circumstances into perspective and boost confidence and self-esteem. Perhaps most importantly, these interactions can help those overcoming a substance use disorder feel less alone and more connected to others in their recovery journey. Let us guide you on your path to a life free from addiction, one step at a time. I guide families in building emotional health and resilience with the same strategic focus they’d apply to financial wealth, helping them create a lasting legacy of relational well-being.
🌟 Reflecting on Responsibility and Agency in Addiction 🌟 The tragic loss of my friend Matthew Perry has reignited discussions around addiction and responsibility. While it's crucial to recognize the medical and social aspects of addiction, we must also honor the agency of individuals navigating this challenging landscape. 🚀 Matty was way more than his struggles; he was a kind, generous individual (go get your stuff, you're moving in with me) making choices within the complexities of addiction. This perspective encourages us to support autonomy and personal growth alongside medical interventions. 💪 Let’s open a dialogue: How can we balance understanding and accountability in our approach to addiction? What changes would you like to see in how we discuss and address these issues in professional settings? 💬🔍 #AddictionAwareness #MentalHealth #PersonalAgency #EthicalCare

No one experiences addiction in a vacuum. The idea that "I'm the only being affected by this" is just false. While they person struggling with addiction is facing a host of conflicts internally, the external conflicts are even more evident. Family members are concerned, friends experience a distancing in their relationship, loved ones become the brunt of frustration and deception, and people you work with deal with the decrease in job reliability. No one is immune to this. But just as they are experiencing this time of trial, those friends and loved ones can also be a source of strength and support in the process of recovery. Recovery doesn't occur in a vacuum either. The same ones who were hurt because of their care for the individual, can take that caring nature and help build the person up when dealing with confusion or struggling to maintain sobriety. If you are the one struggling, lean on the healthy people who want to be there for you. If you are one of the loved ones of the person struggling, thank you for being there for them and never underestimate the power in just listening to what they are going through. Your support means more than they can even express. #GatewayFoundation #ExploreRecovery #RecoveryHappens
