“Ever confused by "strategic" vs. "tactical" in supply chain? (Think of it like this) Strategic supply chain is your big-picture roadmap. It defines your goals, supplier network, and overall flow of goods. Here, you decide where to source materials, what technologies to use, and how to manage risks. On the other hand, tactical supply chain is the day-to-day execution. This is where you put the strategic plan into action. It involves tasks like managing inventory, scheduling deliveries, and negotiating with suppliers. Both strategic and tactical sides work together to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain! #supplychain #logistics #procurement” Posted by :Ahmad Abueisa

The five key areas of supply chain management typically include: 1. Planning: Figuring out what and how much to make to meet customer demand. 2. Sourcing: Finding and choosing suppliers to get the stuff you need. 3. Making: Actually producing and putting together the products. 4. Delivering: Getting those products to customers on time. 5. Returning: Dealing with returns and managing what happens to products after use. #Strategy #Forecasting #SupplierManagement #Negotiation #Manufacturing #QualityControl #Logistics #Distribution #ReverseLogistics #Recycling

Supply Chain/Purchase folks are always busy! I always knew that but this time, I got a chance to experience that first hand. While sourcing few machined components for a client, I observed few things: - Multiple supplier choices delays decision making time for order allocation - Most of the suppliers do not say "NO" to the order but invariably ignore the delivery adherence unless followed up continuously. - Many suppliers reply back with "queries" after a week that further increases the delivery anxiety if not the time. - There are quite a few quality issues that "pull" purchasers in the meeting and take their further time. - Post delivery analysis points towards trying out "another" supplier and the cycle returns. No wonder #procurement is always busy! I will try and get suppliers' POV as well to make it complete. Do you agree? What could be done better here?

What is the Difference Between a Supplier and a Vendor? In the world of procurement and supply chain management, the terms "supplier" and "vendor" are often used interchangeably; however, they have distinct meanings. 1. Supplier: A supplier provides raw materials, components, or goods to a business for production or further processing. They are usually part of a long-term partnership and play a crucial role in maintaining the consistency of the supply chain. 2. Vendor: A vendor typically delivers finished products to the end-user or retailer. Their focus is often on short-term sales rather than long-term collaboration, resulting in more transactional relationships. Key Difference: Suppliers support production, while vendors concentrate on distribution. Understanding this distinction can help organizations streamline their operations and build better relationships within the value chain. #SupplyChainManagement #Logistics #Procurement #SupplyChainOptimization #InventoryManagement #DemandPlanning #WarehouseManagement #GlobalTrade #SupplyChainSolutions #SustainabilityInSupplyChain #OperationsManagement
