It's Pride Month - a time to celebrate our Rainbow communities and allies, recognizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of work and life. At Unilever, we believe that everyone deserves to bring their authentic selves to work and to feel valued, respected, and included. Our diverse workforce is our greatest strength, driving innovation, creativity, and a deeper connection with the communities we serve. Listening and understanding is really important - It's okay to feel awkward or uncertain in conversations about inclusion. Sometimes in our desire not to say the wrong thing, we shy away from conversations or people. But the only way to deepen our understanding is to ask questions, listen to stories. What matters is our willingness to learn and grow. By embracing these dialogues, we can create a more inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. There's always more work to be done, but I am proud to be part of an ecosystem that is working towards a future where everyone can live with pride. #pridemonth2024 #UniquelyUnilever Champions of Change Coalition

Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside of their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs whether we like it or not. The first step in overcoming unconscious bias is to be honest with ourselves, to acknowledge our biases, and to learn more about ourselves and others. One of our Pride Month activities was the 'Unconscious Bias' workshop, where we learned how stereotypes influence our decisions and received practical tips on how to deal with unconscious thought patterns. #WeAreMiele #ImmerBesser #PrideMonth #Diversity 💎🏳️🌈❤️

One of my favourite things about Unilever is its high level of commitment to empowering its people. But what exactly does empowerment entail? For me, there are multiple dimensions to this. It starts with the profound belief that the organization has in your abilities, sometimes even before you fully believe in yourself. Then, it's about the trust vested in you to exercise due diligence in every scenario and make decisions that best serve the interests of the company. And lastly, it's about the organization standing behind your choices and affording them the space to unfold. At Unilever, empowerment isn’t just a buzzword. It is the cornerstone of our culture and I see it playing out every day and everywhere. #UniquelyUnilever #Empowerment #Unilever

🌍 Day 2: Diversity and Inclusion – Because True Strength Lies in Our Differences Just as Ganesh Chaturthi brings people from all walks of life together to celebrate, a diverse workplace brings together unique perspectives, talents, and experiences. When we embrace differences, we create space for innovation, creativity, and better problem-solving. 🌟 Here’s an example: At Unilever, the company’s focus on building a truly inclusive culture transformed its business. By creating a gender-balanced workforce and encouraging employees to bring their authentic selves to work, Unilever saw a 33% increase in productivity and enhanced problem-solving across teams. 🌟 Their "Diversity is our Strength" campaign was pivotal in this success. Takeaway: When employees feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are, they perform at their best. In an inclusive workplace, innovation isn't just a goal—it's the natural result. Inclusion means everyone gets a seat at the table, and when that happens, organizations thrive. 🌱 💡 Did you know? Companies with diverse teams outperform their less diverse peers by 35%! Action Step: If your team looks too similar, ask yourself—where are the opportunities to bring in fresh perspectives? Actively seeking diversity not only strengthens teams but also drives better business outcomes. 👇 Share your thoughts—what does diversity and inclusion mean to you, and how do you foster it in your organization? #DiversityAndInclusion #HRWisdom #GaneshChaturthi #Innovation #CorporateCulture #Belonging

If you take a moment to pause, and reflect, is your organisation’s inclusion, diversity and equity (IDE) strategy truly meaningful? Personally I think any business, or person, who thinks they are "okay" probably isn't, there's always more we can do to drive inclusion. But worryingly, we’re seeing some businesses deprioritising their strategy altogether when faced with other pressing boardroom challenges. 💬📈 Speaking to Caroline Rhodes, Global HRD Learning & Inclusion at Diageo, who are leaders in advocating for and actioning IDE across their business, she believes that Diageo recognises their impact “on communities and society, and the role we can play in advocating for and championing change”.
