Telehealth's triumph! A study by Kaiser Permanente reveals that the surge in telemedicine during the pandemic effectively meets patient needs without compromising safety. Analyzing over 1.5 million adult patients, the study compares primary care telemedicine (video and phone) with in-person visits. Results show telemedicine usage at 50.8%, with video at 20% and phone at 31.3%. Notably, medication prescriptions are lower in telemedicine (video 38.4%, phone 34.6%) than in-person visits (46.8%). Follow-up appointments within seven days are more frequent in telemedicine (video 6.2%, phone 7.6%) than in-person visits (1.3%).
