Nurse Practitioners have the scope and knowledge to provide family medicine to Ontarians and help fix a massive shortage of GPs. As an NP working for a private platform over 70% of patients I see, do not have a GP (NP OR FAMILY DOCTOR). It's about time to have improved integration into our health care system that allows NPs to get compensated in various funding model options. It is about time to also educate the public and improve access to our communities. Most people still do not fully understand our role. Nps work as GPs We are autonomous We are not supervised by doctors We manage exactly the same acute and chronic conditions as family doctors. We collaborate with specialists as needed. We assess, order lab tests and imaging including MRIs / CTs We diagnose independently We prescribe all medications We refer or consult with specialists if needed We advocate for patients We admit and discharge in hospital We can perform minor procedures such as biopsies, excision of skin lesions, IUDs and medical abortions We do all routine cancer screening and physicals and well baby or child visits We have an exceptional skill set and passion to provide comprehensive health care. #Bloomberg really sh*t the bed with it's piece against America's #1 most trusted profession. In Regards to "Miseducation of America's Nurse Practitioners": I'd like to know which physician lobbyist group encouraged (read: bribed) Bloomberg to run a series smear campaign against US Nurse Practitioners. What a non-sensical, reddit-hole, toxic masculinity, biased trope this promulgates. #nursepractitioners save lives, regularly score better than physician #colleagues on satisfaction reports with patients, and boast an overall lower malpractice rate. The tamping down, over-regulation, and oversight/control of a traditionally female-dominated profession reeks of patriarchy. Plenty of physicians 150-100 years ago were poorly trained, diploma-mill clinicians who caused significant patient harm following subpar 2 year trainings. To lash out at our profession is disingenuous and dangerous. Consider how the #Flexnerreport from the early 1900s, which notoriously closed down Black and women's colleges, leaving only the wealthiest and best funded (read: for the privileged, white, males) medical colleges intact. Physicians banding together with hospitals in the first bids for capitalist, medical market control, gave them a hardly unique, but wholly dangerous, reason to continually discredit other providers. Want a real hot tip? Let's talk about how the American Medical Association (AMA) spends enormous energy and funds to discredit #universal health care. Health care is a #right not a privilege - contrary to the AMA's extremely unpopular (but deeply funded) belief. Thousands of #nursepractitioners, #CRNAs, #midwives, and #faculties would be happy to discuss the benefits of the nurse practitioner and advanced practice registered nurse (#APRN) in the American health care system. Resist the urge to drink the toxic juice of ill-meaning, capitalist, patriarchal, medical control. The well-being of millions of American people depends on it.

This is such a grave loss and when organisations and management contribute to the brazen loss of life why is this not a capital crime such as murder let’s call it what it is these people murdered someone.
