✔️#Legal #protection for #nurses & other clinicians from being assaulted is ABSOLUTELY a step in the right direction. 🔲 NEXT STEP: Increase Mental Health Courts, inpatient mental health services, & outpatient mental health services for patients with diagnoses that make them harmful to self or others. This avoids incorrectly incarcerating people who actually need some form of long-term behavioral health care. There’s a lot of systemic problems in healthcare tangled together due to decades of sweeping them under the rug. As a result we have a series of public health crises we can’t hide anymore, ie dangerous shortage of frontline staff, poor recruitment & retention, mental health crisis, backlog of patient care, exploitative healthcare monopolies, & community hospitals financially collapsed by PE investors. We just have to prioritize & strategically solve as many problems as we can at one time. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gHsdH5vu #SafetyFirst #RealisticWorkEnvironment #Retention #MentalHealth #Services California Nurses Association National Nurses United

In their book "Supervision in the Helping Professions" (Fourth Ed. 2013), Hawkins and Shohet compare #ClinicalSupervision to the term used by Winnicott, paediatrician and psychoanalyst, of the 'good enough mother'. Winnicott points out that it is hard for any mother to be 'good enough' without being held and supported by another supportive adult. This then provides for the 'nursing triad' "whereby the child can be supported even when they need to express their negativity". This is a great analogy for supervision as it demonstrates that any helping professional can get through negative experiences and challenges from clients/patients and learn from these experiences and grow in their practice by being held and supported in #ClinicalSupervision. Hawkins and Shohet also point out that being held through clinical supervision prevents the practitioner holding onto these negative experiences leading to self-doubt, absorbing distress at work and allows supervisees to function healthily in the workplace.

Certified Integrative Psychiatric Provider | Developer of the GROOVE THERAPY model | I help clinics stack revenue and provide innovative services through shared medical appointments | Speaker
With up to one in five Americans taking antidepressant medications, it's really important to know what situations call for antidepressants and the evidence-backed ways of helping people toward remission. This is a big discussion today with very detailed medical explanations--scientific information. I just want to remind you, every time you hear this podcast that I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, but I'm not your psychiatric nurse practitioner. Everything we say, here, are the things I tell my own patients, and you need to inform yourself to have these discussions with your prescribing provider: whoever checks on your general welfare, your physical health, your mental state of being. So I'm not your nurse practitioner, and I don't want you to mistake anything I say for direct care for your situation. Listen to the podcast on your favorite podcast platform or visit YouTube for the video podcast. #podcastlaunch #PsychiatricNursePractitioner #integrativehealth #integrativehealthpractitioner #integrativehealthcare #ohiohealthcare #integrativemedicine #acceptingnewpatients #entrepreneurminds #entrepreneurifinstagram #nursepractitioners #nursepractitionersofinstagram #healthcareinnovation #healthcareleadership #burnoutrecovery #burnoutprevention #womenprofessionals #selfawarenessjourney #selfawarenessispower #adhdsupport #adhdbrain
