And we've come to the end of Location and movement control! This is the 13th and final question you need to consider when forming a policy on moving objects within your museum and on recording the location of objects, whether in the museum or elsewhere. This could either be a standalone document or part of a wider collections management policy. 🔗 https://buff.ly/45DS6kS #PrimaryProcedures #MuseumDocumentation

Whether we’re an exhibit designer talking with a prospective client, or a museum curator chatting with someone in the development or facilities department, we need to recognize that the industry jargon and phrases that seem like second nature to us, might be a foreign language to others. I Help Heritage Professionals to Improve Their English Communication Skills 🏆 Advance Your Studies or Job Performance in Less than 12 Weeks ⏱️ 20 years Museum Experience 🏛️ TEFL Qualified 🧑🏫 DM To Learn More 📩
✒ I love this kind of public involvement in heritage and have even sent off an email myself to Hampshire Museums to get a page to decipher! 🤞 📑 Transcription is a tricky thing, I've had some experience with it during my career, and trying to read handwriting is both fun and challenging! ❗ The top tips to remember are: ✍ Write exactly what you see - mistakes, weird spellings, abbreviations and all. ✍ Don't be tempted to guess a word if you're not sure. Make a note so someone else can check it later. ✍ Document catalogues are now designed to be accessed online. So, add as many comments, notes, and spelling updates as possible in the correct fields. This will help the document to be more searchable by researchers. 👋 Need help with writing or reading documents in English? Let’s connect! 🏛 I help arts and heritage students and professionals improve their communication skills and confidence 👩🏫 Don’t forget to follow me and ring the bell 🔔 on the profile to catch all my posts #archives #janeausten #heapoffacts #transcription #history #englishwriting

Object exit - recording when objects leave the buildings you are responsible for and pass out of your direct care. ✍️ You should have a policy covering the exit of objects from your buildings. This could either be a standalone document or part of a wider collections management policy. Either way, in deciding your policy you will need to consider five questions, this is the second one: "Who can authorise objects leaving the museum in each of these circumstances?" This refers back to the first question, which is: "In what circumstances might objects leave the museum?" 🔗 https://buff.ly/3RZEIDo #PrimaryProcedures #Museums

Does your museum ask visitors how they'd like to interact with gallery guides? Recently saw this lanyard system at the clothing shop Lucy & Yak and could easily imagine using a similar system in a museum setting. We all know visitors have very different needs and expectations in the museum. And from a gallery guide perspective, I could imagine this taking some pressure off the decision-making process of whether to jump in or just smile and hang back. As a former gallery guide I can attest that the role draws many shrinking violets. Seeing an indication of "yes please" on a visitor could give docents a boost of confidence.

This kind of AR would also be amazing for immersive history lessons. Making it interactive would take it to another level. How fun would it be to have conversations with your favorite historical figure? Learning would be so engaging. No boring facts and figures for rote memorization. You learn by living it! #AugmentedReality #AR #ImmersiveTechnology #MixedReality #ARInnovation

This is just the beginning of Augmented Reality ; soon it will be more than just a screen, as some professionals suggest that there will be a day when people will feel what they touch on screen. Just look at it; it seems like a reality, but actually it is not. #AR #Technologyadvancement #technologies
