TikTok is back — but what’s the lesson for the rest of us? Creators and brands just got a wake-up call: Any platform can disappear overnight, taking your audience, brand deals, and revenue streams with it. Here are 4 things I’m thinking about TikTok right now: 1️⃣ If you’re not on TikTok as a business, you’re not taking your brand seriously. TikTok has the most engaged audience of any platform. If more organic attention to your product or service doesn’t interest you, feel free to keep hanging out on MySpace. 2️⃣ If your business relies solely on TikTok, wake up and diversify. I spoke to a brand last week that nearly went from hero to zero during the TikTok ban scare. Don’t let that be you. I learned this lesson the hard way with the 2021 Facebook Ads fallout after the iOS14 update. All good things come to an end — squeeze value while you can, then spread it across platforms. 3️⃣ TikTok Affiliates is where it’s at. We’ve seen partners increase revenue by 20% weekly by working with creators who sell products via their content and audience for a commission. Many creators will partner just for the commission — so no excuses. Pro tip: Spend $1K on ads to boost TikTok Shop purchases before starting. Creators can see your store’s sales and are 4x more likely to work with you if you have proven traction. 4️⃣ Bold prediction: TikTok Ads will be the next growth hack by 2026. TikTok already dominates on reach, awareness, and engagement (upper funnel). As TikTok Shop grows (with $20 billion in global sales last year), users will become more comfortable converting directly on the platform (lower funnel). This is where the next premium digital ad channel will emerge. Be ready. The lesson? TikTok is a goldmine — but also a reminder. No platform lasts forever.
