Are you looking for a different high school option this coming year? Is your high school student a gifted & talented musician? Actor? Photographer? Dancer? Animator? Graphic Designer? Artist? Creative writer? Or overall creative? Or does your student WANT to be? We are actively auditioning students for the upcoming year!! What does this mean? Students must audition as part of the enrollment process to enter into a specific program. Singers sing to audition for the choir; musicians play to audition for the band, orchestra, guitar cohort, or piano cohort; actors perform a monologue to audition for theater or film & acting; photographers/ graphic designers/artists/filmographers/creatives submit a portfolio and explain their work to enter into the photography, graphic design, art, filmography, & Creatives programs; etc. After the audition, students complete an interview with the Executive Director and a Board member. When the audition is complete, audition judges decide if the school is a good fit for the student, the student is gifted, or if the student shows promise & potential. The Exec. Director & Board member decide if the student is a good fit for the school in terms of character, career goals, and overall demeanor. If we decide that the student would be successful at PAFANTX, then the Exec. Director sends out an invitation for the student to enroll. The last step of the process is a family interview to ensure that parents have the opportunity to discuss individual goals and aspirations for their student at the school. It is also an opportunity for the Exec. Director to answer any last minute questions or concerns before the enrollment process is complete. Even the best-prepared seniors can be surprised by deadlines, especially in the early round or when applying to specialized programs like the arts. ⏱️Early Action and Early Decision: Most EA/ED deadlines aren't until November 1, but a few are as early as October 15. Looking at you, UNC-Chapel Hill & Clemson! ⏱️ Specialized Programs: Many specialized programs, such as visual or performing arts, have multiple deadlines for portfolio review, auditions, etc. Be sure to double-check school websites, not just for the main application deadline, but for all deadlines! Check out the Admitted newsletter for important dates and checkpoints in the college application process. admitted.substack.com #PlanningAhead #CollegeBound #WriteYourselfIn #CollegeAdmissions #Parenting #CollegeEssay

"Who says all legal scholarship needs to be stuffy, formalistic, and use the word 'normative'?" says Jamie Cooper! Friends and colleagues, those interested in the intersection between popular culture and 'normative' 🤓 reform! Check out this post & the links in it which lead to some of the legal literature which will intrigue. It will at least entertain make you smile 😃.
It was so much fun to present at Comic-Con this past Saturday as part of the Comic Arts Conference. Professor William Aceves and I presented in 2008 and 2009 so it was particularly enjoyable to update Comic-Con attendees on the ways in which comics have promoted public policy and legal reform in the last decade and a half. To see two examples of our scholarship on the issue (in comic form), please visit https://lnkd.in/gSuPUU_U and https://lnkd.in/gY2j827M. Who says all legal scholarship needs to be stuffy, formalistic, and use the word "normative"? My thanks to Dr. Peter Coogan, Dr. Kathleen McClancy, and the CAC team for the invitation. I am looking forward to learning and sharing more about popular cultural approaches to civil education about law and legal education in general in the coming years. Maybe next time, we will present in costumes!

Why is there a perception that art students lack intelligence, while science students aren't judged for not thinking like Williams Shakespeare? There exist stereotypes suggesting that individuals with lower intelligence or those who dislike school are the predominant members of the art department. Conversely, it is believed that the highest achieving students in the art department are more inclined to pursue a career in law and are the sole individuals capable of achieving success in life. However, I beg to differ! Seeing people from other areas of study learning and earning from career prospects of art students says it all. click on the link below or in the comment setiion: https://lnkd.in/e4EUGCYp Subscribe to my blog, too.
