Today we continue our board member showcase — next up we have Arshia Mehta, our wonderful Vice President of Project Director Operations! Arshia has been heavily involved with the SC community throughout her Stanford career, and has a lot of wisdom to share with fellow students. Hear from Arshia’s insights on our community, her professional career interests, and general advice for students interested in consulting and business adjacent careers!
What's one important thing you've learned through your job in SC that you want to share with everyone? It can be anything career-related, leadership/management-related, etc!
“SC taught me the value of maintaining relationships with older peers who can often serve as your mentors. I've learned so much from members of SC who have graduated; they've helped me make difficult career decisions, inspired me to try new fields, and generally always have great advice about how to live your life to the fullest!”
Outside of SC, what are your professional / career interests? Why are you passionate about this field, how does it inspire you?
“I'll be working in management consulting for the next couple of years, because I think it's a great way to expose yourself to a multitude of business contexts and develop a breadth of knowledge. I'm also interested in exploring the startup scene, as I've always felt the most fulfilled when I'm able to build creatively and feel a sense of ownership over a product/strategy.”
What advice do you have for other students generally interested in business? (or, if you have other specific industry knowledge and want to provide advice on that, please specify and respond here!)
“I don't think you can ever receive advice about which industries to work in that compares to experiencing it yourself. Take advantage of every summer, every opportunity you have to apply yourself to a business context you could see yourself pursuing long-term. It is because of my internships that I reached clarity regarding how I want to spend the next couple years of my life!”
