BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Native and Indigenous people experience severe psychological distress 2.5 times more often than the general U.S. population, and more than twice the number of youth ages 15-19 die by suicide each year compared to the white population. This BIPOC group has the most severe barriers to mental health care because of their general lack of access to resources. Cultural and religious influences keep Native and Indigenous people from pursuing mental health care, and research shows that they are more likely to seek healing from spiritual leaders within their communities than medical professionals. #BIPOCMentalHealthAwareness #BreaktheStigma #bipocmentalhealth

Veridata Insights and Clarafy Research Solutions: Mental health stigma persists but research shows paths to improve access "Mental health remains a major issue in American life. Many issues arise but even more questions and seeming contradictions emerge: Most recognize it to be a major issue in society; few want to talk about it. Many want to utilize mental health therapy; relatively few actually do. Despite more attention paid to suicide prevention post-pandemic, suicide rates reached a record high in 2022, now averaging close to 50,000 deaths per year." Globally, one in seven 10-19-year-olds experiences a mental disorder, accounting for 13% of the global burden of disease in this age group. Depression, anxiety and behavioural disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29 year-olds. The consequences of failing to address adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults ref: WHO This is WHY we created #WHISKids to improving our Children's Mental Health & Wellbeing World Health Innovation Summit CIC #HealthforAll #ChildrensMentalHealth #MentalHealth #MentalWellbeing #WHIS

Curious question for those of you working alongside mental health treatment professionals, so lawyers, insurers, carers, parents, partners, children etc. Do you know that different treatments are used to help people with different diagnoses? We don’t do the same thing for major depressive disorder as we do for attention deficit hyperactive disorder. #insuranceindustry #familylaw #medicalnegligence

Each year in the U.S., 20% of adults experience a mental health condition, and 5% experience a serious mental illness. Despite this high prevalence, only about half of adults who need treatment actually receive it. Did you know that people in racial-ethnic minority groups are: · 20-50% less likely to initiate mental health service use · 40-80% more likely to drop out of treatment prematurely HEO is proud to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness’ Mental Illness Awareness Week. This initiative aligns closely with our mission to improve health equity- ensuring that everyone, particularly those in underserved communities who face a higher incidence of mental illness and limited access to services, has the support and resources they need to flourish. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek #NAMIStigmaFree #AdvancingHealthEquity
