The recent thematic review from the #SRA shows clear benefits to firms who prioritise culture - attracting and retaining staff, creating a learning environment and reducing the likelihood of claims. 📈 Optimizing People in Legal • Lawyer turned Executive Coach • Human Capital Consulting • Legal Innovation • Women Leaders • Thought Partner for Legal Founders
Selling culture transformation to law firms can feel like convincing Americans that using roundabouts is a good idea. 😁 It's often met with skepticism. I get it. 👀 Culture feels intangible. There’s tight budgets. It’s not a priority to invest. But here’s the thing— Having a solid culture means: 1️⃣ Attracting and Retaining Top Talent Talent turnover costs more than just time money— and that can be significant. It's about losing knowledge and momentum. A strong culture isn't just a perk; it's a magnet for keeping your stars and serving your clients effectively. 2️⃣ Fostering Innovation Creative cultures don’t just solve problems; they anticipate them. This leads to breakthrough solutions, heightened client service, and ultimately, client loyalty. 3️⃣ Enhancing Reputation and Reducing Risks Look at Kyte Baby this week and the fall out from their CEO denying leave to a parent with a child in the NICU. The cost of a culture goes beyond finances; it hits your reputation hard. So, why wait to act? At Level7 Legal we offer: - Customized consultations to understand you and your firm's needs. - Team Energy Assessments to pinpoint your current and potential dynamics. - Signature Workshops that build trust and set the foundation for a resilient, positive culture. Openings available for new legal teams in February and March. Let's elevate your firm's culture from a background thought to its driving force. #legalteam #legal #lawfirm #coaching

Finding and retaining top talent in your law firm is crucial, but it's not always easy. ""A"" players are valuable yet scarce, and traditional top-down management may not be the best approach to harness their potential. We believe in empowering every team member to excel. It's about more than just identifying bottlenecks and setting directives—it's about fostering a culture where everyone can contribute and lead. How many ""A"" players does your firm have? They're invaluable but hard to find and even harder to retain. Top-down management isn't the answer. It's about empowering every team member to rise, lead, and overcome challenges together. Learn why nurturing every team member's potential is key to sustainable success in your firm. In today's dynamic legal landscape, it's clear that sustainable success hinges on more than just recruiting top talent; it's about cultivating a supportive environment where all team members can thrive. By investing in their development and providing opportunities for leadership, we not only strengthen our firm but also foster a resilient and adaptable team ready to tackle any challenge. How does your firm approach talent management and team empowerment?

'23 INvolve OUTstanding Top 100 LGBTQ+ exec | Legal Marketing Association International Past President | Legal marketer, thought leader, arts advocate | Social mantra: Celebrate. Advocate. Reciprocate. Enlighten. 🏳️🌈
For anyone in the #legal space, this is essential reading. Culture is our differentiator. Our clients feel it and they gravitate toward firms that are innovative and creative. Innovation and creativity thrive in a healthy environment. Thank you, Ashley Merryman and U.S. News & World Report, for this important piece. Should be required reading across the land (and NOT because I happen to be interviewed here!). EXCERPT: When law firm leaders make changes to create a more positive, productive culture, those upgrades can improve employee sentiment and the company's bottom line. Company culture is an issue every firm leader should be addressing as law firms are known to be unforgiving environments, and many attorneys buckle under the strain. The good news is that firms that have taken steps to improve the workplace culture have learned lessons that can benefit the larger legal community. https://lnkd.in/gwgZdjAS

What does a healthy law firm actually look like? 🔷 Clarity. There is clarity on everything from role definition, to compensation, to work product standards, to expectations and goals. Clarity is kindness. 🔷 Transparency. There is no mystery surrounding things. Relevant numbers are shared. Quarterly feedback is provided and team members know where they stand. Transparency builds trust. 🔷 Boundaries. The law firm respects boundaries. Team members have a right to exist outside of the firm. Boundaries are essential for great relationships. 🔷 Training and Tools. The firm invests in training for all of its team members and gives them the tools they need to do their jobs. Anything else is setting someone up to fail. 🔷 Benefits and Compensation. If team members aren’t having their needs met than it becomes hard to expect them to deliver great work. 🔷 Respect. For example, having firm outings that are inclusive. Team members may not have the physical ability to say golf. Great organizations find ways to be inclusive. Great organizations also find ways to listen to their team members including and perhaps especially the quiet ones. ➡️Some of these things are easier said than done. None of these things are trendy or soft. All of them require intention. Show me a law firm that does these things well and I guarantee they are a great place to work and outperform their competitors.
