The first couple of weeks of February is always a time of celebration for advertisers. If you don't know what I mean, it is the time when two of the biggest world phenomena happen in the world of advertising. One is the American Super Bowl, the final match of their version of football and the other is the Chinese New Year. Both these events come with a bombardment of ads with brilliant concepts, production and execution. In this post, let me talk about my favourite 2024 Super Bowl ads. The best Super Bowl ads usually come under two categories. The quirky celebrity cameo-filled funny type, or the inspirational type. Most of this year's ads seemed like I had seen them before, nothing surprising apart from two ads in each of these categories. Under the quirky type, is the ad from Pluto TV, it starts off like an inspirational ad about farming until you see the 'couch potato' twist. This hilarious take made me curious enough to check what this product was all about. The second was the inspirational ad from Google. Taking photos on your phone to capture the memories of our lives is almost universal now. But have you ever wondered how a blind/partially blind person would capture their memories? This heart-melting ad has it all. The reveal in the end is a tearjerker for sure. PS: Both the ads play one after the other. #superbowl2024 #plutotv #googlepixel #advertising
