🤷♂️Ever spotted someone with what looks like a camera on a tripod and thought, "Hey, a photo shoot!"? Well, chances are, you've just encountered a #surveyor at work, not a photographer! Surveyors are often seen with equipment that, to the uninitiated, might look like fancy camera gear. But in reality, these are precision tools like #theodolites and #totalstations, used for measuring and #mapping our world with astonishing accuracy. The truth is, surveying is a bit of a hidden profession. Most people don't know what surveyors do, but they definitely notice when they don't do it! These professionals are the unsung heroes who lay the groundwork for #construction projects, ensure buildings are built where they should be, and #roads connect where they're meant to. Without their meticulous work, the world would be a very different place – and not in a good way. 🔥🔥🔥 Are you a qualified #Surveyor considering a move to #Australia or #NewZealand? Surveyors are currently in huge demand in both countries due to unprecedented spending on major #infrastructure projects. A recent report by BIS Oxford Economics prepared for Consulting Surveyors National — has revealed the skills shortfall in the surveying and #geospatial profession will reach nearly 1,400 professionals nationally by 2024, eventually reaching more than 2,000 in 2029. This equates to an average of 1,500 extra surveyors and geospatial professionals needed in Australia each year to meet national demand! We are actively recruiting Surveyors with all levels of experience for current and upcoming projects. We have a wide variety of roles to suit your skills and experience. Understanding the principles and accuracy of surveying instruments is crucial for delivering precise survey work. Recognizing this, I ensure every job I undertake is accurate and reliable. Recently, I embarked on an adventure using my mobile phone to trace the perimeter of a large expanse of land. The methodology was based on the understanding that any point established for alignment carries a certain degree of error. To prevent the accumulation of errors, I broke the alignment at intervals. When we compared the boundary opened on the ground to the initial drawing, the coordinates were within the required accuracy. Embracing the working principles and appreciating the blend of adventure and creativity in our field can lead to impressive results. #olasamgeotech #creativity #surveying

What obstacles do surveyors frequently encounter in their projects? These obstacles can range from restricted access and unfavorable weather conditions to the necessity for meticulous coordination with property owners or occupants. Moreover, aside from access constraints, surveyors frequently navigate around inquisitive neighbors, affectionately known as NIMBYs. Such challenges are all part and parcel of the surveying journey, If your a surveyor and run into constraints let us know in the comments! . . . . . #pointcloud #pointclouddata #pointclouds #pointcloudscan #survey #surveyors #surveyor #surveylife #surveying #surveys #measuredsurvey #measuredsurveys #measuredsurveylondon #pointcloudscan #pointclouds #pointclouddata #pointcloud #pointcloudsurvey #topographicalsurvey #topographical #topografia #bidstondraughting

In the world of hydrographic surveying, adaptability and innovation are key, especially when working in remote or challenging environments. Recently, Hydrographic Surveyor Ryan and one of our small boat crews demonstrated this perfectly while working at one of our more inaccessible survey sites. Armed with a kayak and a single beam sonar, Ryan navigated through a location where traditional survey methods wouldn’t be possible. Our small boat crews are often tasked with working in such remote areas, where identifying and monitoring critical infrastructure, like pipelines, is crucial. These areas often lack the easy access of larger watercraft, but that doesn't slow our teams down. Using kayaks not only allows us to reach these hard-to-access spots but also minimizes environmental disturbance. By deploying a single beam sonar from the kayak, Ryan efficiently collected precise bathymetric data. This innovative technique ensures we maintain high standards in locating and surveying important pipelines, even when faced with the most challenging conditions. #FieldPhotoFriday #Surveyor #HydrographicSurvey #PipelineMaps

What is a Topographical Survey? It is a way of measuring up features on the ground and drawing (Plotting) the measured features to produce a map (Plan) of the area. The process involves using specialised measuring equipment like the GNSS Rover (a sophisticated GPS) and the Total Station (an instrument that measures points relative to its location). With these tools, a land surveyor can precisely measure the location of features. After conducting the on-site survey, the surveyor processes the collected data to create a detailed map of the surveyed features. Do you need one? Such surveys are often necessary due to the limitations of Ordnance Survey Maps (OS maps, similar to the detailed walking maps found in stores). OS maps often lack sufficient information to determine whether a development can be safely undertaken. Safety concerns range from basic issues, such as whether the proposal will fit within the site, to more complex problems like the risk of flooding due to a nearby river. . . . . . #pointcloud #pointclouddata #pointclouds #pointcloudscan #survey #surveyors #surveyor #surveylife #surveying #surveys #measuredsurvey #measuredsurveys #measuredsurveylondon #pointcloudscan #pointclouds #pointclouddata #pointcloud #pointcloudsurvey #topographicalsurvey #topographical #topografia #bidstondraughting
