Today is International Women's Day and it's high time to give the women in our team a face: the communication designers Kira Lehmann, Thaís Andrade, Saskia Oschwald and Lydia Lahr and Jelka Böhm, responsible for PR and administration.⁠ ⁠ International Women's Day was established over 100 years ago to promote equal rights and independence for all women and a lot has changed since then, but unfortunately there are still far too many areas in which women are still discriminated today. On this day, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. 👉 Did you know International Women’s Day (IWD) started back in 1911? Founded by advocate of women’s rights, Clara Zetkin, it was first celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. It’s a day to celebrate how far women have come in social, economic, cultural and political areas of life but to also educate and raise awareness about equality for women. This year’s focus theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ – to emphasize ‘the importance of diversity’. Today, on International Women's Day, we recognize the invaluable contributions that women have made and continue to make to our society. From the boardroom to the home, women play a vital role in shaping our world. They are leaders, innovators, caregivers, and changemakers, and their perspectives and experiences are essential to creating a more just and equitable world. Women have made significant strides in various fields, breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes along the way. They have fought for and secured fundamental rights, such as the right to vote and access to education. Women have also made groundbreaking discoveries, created artistic masterpieces, and driven social and political change. Moreover, they are often the primary caregivers, providing nurturing and support to families and communities. As we celebrate International Women's Day, we must also acknowledge the obstacles that women continue to face, including gender-based violence, discrimination, and economic inequality. We must commit to creating a world where women have equal opportunities to succeed, are valued and respected, and can live free from fear and oppression. Learning and unlearning is a life-long process. This year, let us pledge to unlearn our unconscious biases and learn how to nurture inclusive workplaces that foster equality for all. Let us learn to celebrate women in all their glory. International Women’s Day is but 24 hours in the wheel of time. We will achieve complete inclusivity when we consciously strive to honor women’s work and contributions every single day. Starting this year, let us be more aware of unconscious biases that will help us stay on the side of fairness, justice, and impartiality. #SpotItToStopIt #InspireInclusion

It’s March 8th, #InternationalWomensDay2024, and HerRights Global is celebrating with a look at the advances women have made, and the historical experience that shaped our reality. Much of the movement for equality began in 1909 as a call by women for #workersrights and #womensrights, which was seen as deeply radical at the time. They were fighting for safe workplaces, #fairpay and efforts to prevent #sexualassault in war zones and workplaces. These ideas are no longer radical in the eyes of U.S. citizens, but we still haven't achieved the goals. We invite you to imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and #inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality.
