This is great news for writers who do their own work. It's terrible news for people who are using AI to generate content - and I expect to see a lot more news like this in coming months. In fact, we've already started to see it. The recent Google update devaluing content that looks like it might have been created by AI is one example. Many companies are realizing that publishing AI content is risky business, for a few reasons: - Low-quality content (which is most content generated by AI) ruins your reputation with readers and Google - Factually incorrect content generated by AI can mislead readers and cause them harm, sometimes even fatal harm (we've seen this with AI-generated books sharing misinformation about mushroom foraging) - AI generated content cannot be copyrighted and, in fact, may be plagiarized from the sources scanned by the AI program, putting you at risk of major lawsuits All of these things are leading to massive backlash against AI. If you're using AI for content generation, you might find yourself embroiled in that backlash. If you want to enjoy long-term success in publishing or content marketing, you need to either learn how to write well yourself OR hire real humans (like me 😉) to write for you.
This is excellent news from Medium.
