Why does Cheating occur? CHEATING ON FILM 🎥 There are some shots that undergo what is known as "cheats" during filming and shooting. For eg: 180 rule. The 180 rule is following the eyeline of the viewer and making sure the perspective mimics reality. You'll never see a person walking right to left in one scene and then left to right in the next. 🔍 Why? Well simply, this would confuse the mind's perception of reality.👀 Perspective Magic: Different camera perspectives hide these small changes from the audience.🌟 Subtle Adjustments: When setting up for a new angle, make slight tweaks to props or actors' positions. Seamless Look: These tweaks help maintain a perfect, consistent look throughout the scene, even though it REALLY hasn't been seamless. Enhanced Storytelling: By using cheat shots, you can enhance the storytelling. For eg: In Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum, there is a subtle POV adjustment, and the angle of shooting is changed completely! Understanding Blocking in Films: Making Scenes Work ✨🎥✨ 🎬 Film Making Fundamentals Series Today, in our second lesson, we'll focus on the art of blocking. What is Blocking? Blocking in movies is like arranging actors and objects on a stage. It's about deciding where they should stand, move, and interact during a scene. It's basically the blueprint for how a scene will play out visually. Why is it Important? Blocking is super important because it helps tell the story in a clear and engaging way. By placing actors and objects in specific positions, filmmakers direct our attention to the most important parts of the scene. Example from "Kill Bill" In Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill," during the fight scene with the gang, notice how the actors are placed. The main character, The Bride, is usually in the middle, showing she's in charge. The enemies are positioned around her to make the fight seem intense. The director does this to make sure every actor's position tells the story clearly through visuals. When Watching Movies Next, Notice It Next time you watch a movie, pay attention to how characters move and interact in each scene. There is a certain magic to the image of the film movie camera lacking in the digital. Not only did these cameras become synonymous in culture with the magic of movie making, but filming day for night was easier both to film and watch, and the ability to customize the shot with the music was easier. I recently have been working on editing a very rhythmic theme song for Triskelion Pictures with text images for the credits. Digital software has its limitations that reel film didn't have and vice versa.
