Had a blast at the North Dakota Farm Bureau NDSU collegiate chapter’s mentorship panel tonight! Some highlights: 1. There are always hard things in whatever job you choose, but find something you are passionate about to overcome the hard things. 2. There is a lot of opportunity in #agriculture right now. Door is wide open. 3. The career path for you might meander or could be a straight shot. Everyone will have a different path. 4. If you are getting an internship, ask the company what their internship program looks like. If they can’t answer, more often than not you’ll be pushing paper and not learning something. 5. No matter what, take advantage of getting better no matter where you work. 6. Be curious, but self sufficient. Ask questions after trying to explore and solve it on your own, but always be curious about learning more. 7. Find a good mentor. #internships #careeradvice #students

Considering applying for internships over the winter break? ✍️ Take advice from ACE senior Margaret Vaessen, who had an internship at Farm Credit this past semester. Through Margaret's hands-on projects and the opportunities to see firsthand the farms that Farm Credit Illinois supports, she was able to solidify her goals to work in agricultural finance📈 📉 She encourages students to take advantage of internship opportunities to find what they like and don't like because they are equally important. "Hard work lies in passion for what you are doing, so find what you are passionate about and make it work," she says. Looking for internships to apply to? Check out Handshake @ Illinois🤝 and keep up with the ACES Career Connection newsletters!

Trent, our summer intern for 2024, recently had a sit-down with our team for a fun Q&A session before he heads back to school. As he’s right in between his junior and senior years, Trent has been diving deep into various aspects of our company this summer. From getting hands-on experience in the shop to exploring sales, parts, shipping, field service and all three of our locations, Trent has truly immersed himself in the #JennerNation family. We’ve absolutely enjoyed having him on board this summer! ❓Q: What valuable insights did you gain from your internship? ❗A: I learned about the importance of a strong work ethic, as well as how this company maximizes profits and operates with efficiency. ❓Q: How would you describe our company culture? ❗A: Very unique. Everyone is very friendly. I feel that the many company events that happen help people build good friendships and make working here an enjoyable experience. ❓Q: How would you describe Jenner Ag as a place to work? ❗A: It’s a fantastic place to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of a company and build a career, not just find a job. ❓Q: What was the best part of your intern experience? ❗A: The best part of my internship experience was getting to work with a real company for the first time. Coming from a background of working on my family’s farm, this was a change for me. I believe that the experience helped me improve my communication skills and professionalism, which will be valuable for my future career. #AgCareers #Agriculture #AgEducation

Earlier today, I had the privilege of attending the Lehigh Valley Internship Summit by the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.. 📚 It was a valuable experience to learn about how companies across our region, like EnerSys, are utilizing interns to drive strategic objectives. The summit covered insightful topics like Generational Differences and Interns, as well as the influence of AI on internships. 💡 🧠 It was an excellent opportunity to network and expand my knowledge base. 🙌🏻 #Internship #Networking #ProfessionalDevelopment

I always ponder upon a question that- Why does an internship matter so much? Is it just a stepping stone, or is it where the real journey begins? And now I think, I got my answer. As my internship at Modesto Crop Protection Ltd. comes closer to its end, it has been an eye-opening experience. It's not just about the hands-on work in marketing and finance; it's about the late nights, the problem-solving, and the excitement of being part of something bigger. Each project I take on and each skill I hone feels like a small victory, as this experience is not just about building a career; it's about embracing every moment and learning something new every day. To everyone out there, please just remember that it’s not just a temporary phase—it's a foundation for the future we are building. It is these experiences that shape us and pave the way for what's to come. PS: I will soon share the detailed report of my internship projects.

Here are six things I learnt in my 6-week Summer Internship as a marketing & business development intern working at Clyde & Co: 1. ASK QUESTIONS: This is something that I definitely learnt the hard way but if you do not ask questions you will not get the right answer/s you’re looking for. 2. Be Proactive: Be bold & proactive when speaking to people that know more about the field you are trying to get into long-term as they can give you advice and insights when they first started out. 3. Be a Sponge: Be receptive to advice you are getting and apply the theory into practice. 4. Be Flexible: It is not all about sitting at your desk and working hard but make sure that you are also building the necessary soft skills needed by going out of your way to set up meetings with higher-ups also. 5. CURIOSITY: Voice your interests/dislikes to your supervisor so that you can be assigned more tasks that you like. 6. Establish Your Goals: What do you want to achieve out of your summer internship? What are areas of improvement that you would like to cultivate? #sixthingsilearnt #clydeandco #summerinternship #marketingandbusinessdevelopment

Today we are featuring Mason, a Finance and Management student and intern with Shamrock Surgical and Sun & Soil Health! What is your favorite part of your internship? 💚: "My favorite part about my internship is the people. The people I work with are passionate and charismatic, which makes it a fun place to work. My internship also allows me to work in something I'm passionate about while learning skills firsthand." How did the Pancratz Center help? 📋: "The Pancratz Center has helped me with many things while I've been at UND. These things include resume revisions, interview prep, LinkedIn and handshake profiles, and finding internships." Advice to other students searching for an internship 📢: "I would say when looking for internships you have to apply a lot and see what sticks. You never know what company will fit you but applying and seeing what happens is the only way you can figure it out. When you keep applying, the right match for you is bound to show up."
