Shining a light on the work of one of our amazing Funding HQ members, New Zealand Writers Guild / Puni Taatuhi o Aotearoa, who have recently given their website a full makeover. Here's three things we love about the new site from a fundraising perspective: 📢1. The website headline puts their compelling case front & centre: "The story starts here: Empowering screenwriters to tell their stories" ✍️2. The website humanises the work of the guild- strong photography of guild events, and clear photos & bios for the team and the board of the guild. This helps brings the work to life, and builds trust and confidence amongst supporters and prospective donors. 🥂3. Prominent acknowledgement of supporters- funders logos on the homepage, alongside their industry partners. This shows that NZWG have the support of their community, and that their work is valued. Head to the website if you are keen to learn more about the great work that the Guild does, advocating for New Zealand Writers, developing and nurturing writing talent, and championing the great work of Aotearoa writers. Book-pitching lore says that you have one bite of the cherry at any one literary agency. Once they decline your pitch, you need to move on. However, Andrea Brown Literary Agency has introduced a Second Chance Inbox for projects that certain agents at the agency have already passed on. They write on their website, "If a creator would like another opportunity to have their project considered by ABLA after their first choice agent passes, we invite you to submit your work to the Second Chance Inbox. All our agents have access to this inbox and will regularly look through it to discover new material! If an agent finds something they are interested in, they will reach out to that creator directly." ABLA agents themselves will not add projects to the inbox, so writers should submit themselves.
