✒️ Two ELR Ohio’s geotechnical engineers were recently published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. Peter Narsavage, P.E. and Jamal Nusairat worked with Ömer Bilgin and Saeed Alzahrani from the University of Dayton and the Ohio Department of Transportation to investigate the time dependent capacity of driven piles. One interesting finding of the research was how vibrations from driving nearby piles can increase the pore water pressure in the soils around a pile and temporarily reduce the measured pile capacity. This can have a significant impact on the timing of pile load tests and sequence of construction for pile foundations. Access the full article at the link below: https://lnkd.in/e6ZhqWqB

In geotechnical engineering, determining the bearing capacity of soil is crucial for designing stable and safe foundations. One of the most influential and widely used methods for calculating bearing capacity is Meyerhof’s Method, developed by Dr. George G. Meyerhof in the mid-20th century. His contributions refined earlier theories and provided a more comprehensive approach to real-world scenarios involving diverse soil conditions and foundation types.
