Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), despite comprising about 3% of colleges and universities in the nation, are responsible for producing a sizeable share of Black professionals. For example, 40% of all Black engineers and half of all Black lawyers attended an HBCU. Some 70% of Black doctors, 80% of Black judges, and half of all Black teachers nationwide are HBCU graduates. HBCUs offer a rich legacy upon which current students can build. Student Housing of America, Inc. (SHA) seeks to help HBCU students excel. Our mission is to provide safe, affordable student housing for those attending HBCUs. We work hand-in-hand with HBCUs, corporate partners, and other organizations to address students’ needs and provide for their well-being. SHA works to empower our future leaders through a system of resources to support academic and personal success. #HBCU #affordablehousing #studentsupports #SHA #FutureLeaders #BlackExcellence #HBCUsMatter

Did you know that Maryland is the northernmost state with four Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)? These institutions—Coppin State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Bowie State University, and Morgan State University —are not only essential to the state but also to the rich history of African American higher education. HBCUs were founded during a time when African Americans were often denied access to traditional institutions. These universities provided a critical space for education, empowerment, and the preservation of the African American diaspora’s history and culture. Today, they remain sacred spaces that are welcoming to all students, regardless of race or ethnicity, and are centers of excellence and leadership. Morgan State University in Baltimore stands out as a shining example of what HBCUs represent—an institution committed to academic rigor, diversity, and community impact. Known as a National Treasure, Morgan State continues to cultivate leaders who make a difference across industries and communities. Corporations looking to invest in the future of diversity, equity, and inclusion should look no further than these top-tier schools. HBCUs are home to some of the brightest, most diverse talent ready to lead in Corporate America and beyond. Join us as we celebrate these incredible institutions and their contributions to our society! #CoppinStateUniversity #UMEasternShore #BowieStateUniversity #MorganStateUniversity #HBCUs #WalkToWallStreet #WBCollaborative #WBCFasterTogether #latinojustice #SERNational #SER #AreYouIN #HACR #HispanicInclusion #HHM #HispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritageMonth2024 #StridesForChange

At HBCU Prep School, we’re on a mission to bring empowering and authentic stories of the Black experience into homes and classrooms everywhere!
Today, the Biden-Harris Administration announced additional federal investments in Historically Black Colleges and Universities totaling $1.3 billion. With these new investments, combined with the previously announced $16 billion in total federal investments in HBCUs, the Biden-Harris Administration has set another record of over $17 billion in federal investments in HBCUs from Fiscal Years 2021 through FY 2024. • $188 million in competitive grants to HBCUs through the Department of Education, including grants that will support R&D capacity building. • $1.1 billion in funding to support students at HBCUs directly through need-based grants and other federal programs, including Pell Grants. Despite representing only 3% of colleges and universities, HBCUs provide college access to twice as many Pell Grant-eligible low- and middle- income students as non-HBCU institutions. HBCUs have produced an astonishing 40% of all Black engineers, 50% of all Black teachers, 70% of all Black doctors and dentists, and 80% of all Black judges. But beyond just serving as an engine of economic mobility for students and their families, HBCUs make a substantial contribution to the national economy. New research by the UNCF finds that HBCUs generate $16.5 billion annually in economic impact on communities across the United States, as well as over 136,000 jobs, and $146 billion in collective lifetime earnings for their graduates. HBCUs are working hard to improve the number of students that walk across the graduate stage, and it shows: ▪️A whopping 27% of African-American graduates with STEM degrees come from HBCUs. ▪️Of the top eight graduate institutions, seven HBCUs are responsible for producing Black undergraduate students who eventually achieve doctorates. ▪️An HBCU graduate can expect to earn an additional $927,000 in their lifetime, which is 56% more than they could expect to earn without their HBCU degrees or certificates. The bottom line? The HBCU education system is set up for success. #hbcu #stemdegrees #techtalent #education
