L'autre jour, je suis tombé sur une publication de l'entreprise britannique de céréales Surreal. Cette entreprise a vraiment frappé fort avec son approche décalée, voire irrévérencieuse, et rafraîchissante dans un marché qui cherche toujours à se démarquer. En jouant sur l'humour, la transparence et une bonne dose d'absurdité, la marque capte l’attention là où on ne l’attend pas, et ça fait toute la différence! Des slogans qui osent, un branding coloré et une communication directe qui sort des sentiers battus – Surreal a compris comment captiver son audience en faisant rire. Cette audace leur permet de créer une connexion humaine et authentique avec leurs clients, dans un monde où le marketing peut parfois paraître très uniforme. Bravo pour cette créativité! 🎉 Une belle leçon de marketing à retenir : parfois, prendre des risques et briser les conventions, c’est la clé pour se faire remarquer et rester dans les mémoires.

Our #hatchery has also achieved a new #milestone with the production of the first batch of fourth-generation fingerlings, a testament to 15 years of advancements in our #broodstock program. The blocking of Tapestry’s acquisition of Capri is absurd. It does not reflect the realities of the market. It treats highly discretionary goods like they're some kind of essential commodity. And it shows a large degree of economic illiteracy. However, it is what it is, and it will come as a blow. For Tapestry, it likely puts an end to the goal of becoming a bigger house of brands, and it leaves its plans for future growth in tatters. In a slower market, Tapestry will now need to rely on sweating its existing brands harder, which will be challenging. The group could, in time, also look to make smaller acquisitions. Ultimately, however, this falls short of a disaster for Tapestry. The group remains well run with a solid portfolio of brands. And there is also a sense that it was overpaying for Capri. So, perhaps this is something of a lucky escape. For Capri the outcome is much worse. It leaves the company very exposed. It is in poor shape and, in betting on being acquired, it has neglected the hard work that needs to be done to course correct many of its weak brands. It will now either need to find another party to buy it – and this is not likely to be at the same premium Tapestry was willing to pay – or it will have to embark on a major program of change.
