Day 6 of Donate Life Month's Spirit Week is an uplifting way to promote organ, eye, and tissue donation. That's because today is Create "Donate Life" Rocks day. Painted rocks have become a trend in communities all over the United States. The mission is simple: you paint a rock and place it somewhere for someone to find. Once found, someone picks up the painted rock and eventually places it in a new location. Painted rocks get traded out for other rocks with other messages. Some rocks say Kindness Matters. Some just have a simple design meant to brighten someone's day. A Donate Life rock, however, helps promote the ongoing need for organ, eye, and tissue donors to help give people the gift of life or sight. It symbolizes a message of hope for someone waiting for a life-saving or life-changing surgery. 🌟 As many of you know, I've been incredibly fortunate to be part of something truly meaningful with Relief for Human Suffering Foundation. It's a journey of compassion and transformation that has touched the lives of over 15,000 individuals in Africa since 2021. But there's more to be done! As part of the foundation’s funding appeal this #GivingTuesday, I've set up a personal fundraiser because there's a specific challenge we face: providing transportation for people in remote Nigerian towns to access critical surgeries for cataracts in our local partners’ city hospitals. Astonishingly, nearly half of those identified with cataracts during our outreaches never make it for the free life-changing surgeries, simply due to lack of transportation. This year alone, our collective efforts have resulted in an incredible milestone – together we’ve saved 138 lives! Donate to My MS150 Fundraiser Below – Whether $20 or $200 every bit counts! Almost a year after ACL surgery, I’m back on the bike and taking on the MS150 this year! If you don’t know what it is, the MS150 is a 150+ mile bike ride over the course of two days. While that’s a neat accomplishment, the more important thing is that this ride is targeting to raise $9.4MM for the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society in 2024. MS is a devastating, unpredictable disease. But money raised through Bike MS fuels cutting-edge MS research and critical services to ensure people affected by MS have the resources they need to live their best lives. And I want your help making that a reality! INTERESTING FACTS: - While there are other rides like it across the country, funds raised by this ride alone total more than the funds raised by all of the other Bike MS rides in the United States put together - Money raised in this ride stays in the area and over 80% goes to research, social programs, support and financial assistance to those with MS - I tore my ACL last year right before the MS150 and opted out of riding… but there are some cyclists who ride with only one leg, so clearly I had no excuse! https://lnkd.in/gfjJXAnF
