Corporate and Public Safety Learning and Development Consultant and Strategist | Analyst | Problem solver | Think-stuff-up guy
#TrainingDevelopment is more than making an outline and a slide deck, it is following a process to create effictive training. The outline and slide is one small part. I still have room in this course starting April 1st. While this one is geared towards #LawEnforcement and #PoliceTraining, I will have one for corporate trainers and educators wanting to enter the corporate world starting soon. Link in comments. #InstructionalDesign #LearningAndDevelopment #LearningStrategy

Creating training is more than having an idea, making objectives, creating an outline, a slide deck, and a ten-question, multiple-choice quiz. But that is how a lot of #LawEnforcementInstructors have been trained. I have a virtual version of my "Instructional Design for Law Enforcement Instructors" course starting on April 1st. It is 40 hours of training with 90 days to complete. The times and days are flexible for shift work and the ever-changing availability of LEOs. If you are in the corporate world, there is a corporate version of this course available that will be announced soon. There are 13 seats available currently and the course is IADLEST NCP certified. For more information, go to https://lnkd.in/gxms-JGk The attached brochure provides more information. #InstructionalDesign #PoliceTraining #TrainingDevelopment #CourseDevelopment #InstructorDevelopment #LawEnforcementTraining #LawEnforcement #Instructors

So, one of the things which I find interesting about 🇦🇺 legislation is that there's a definite move to draft new 🇦🇺 legislation using plain English such as adopting a simple subject-verb-object approach. The Australian Office of Parliamentary Counsel has this to say: "Australia inherited the traditional style of drafting used in the United Kingdom in the 19th century. It has many examples of bad writing ‑ long, badly constructed sentences, archaic words and phrases and strings of unnecessary words. The Commonwealth added to these faults in the 1960s and 1970s by putting too much emphasis on precision and not enough on simplicity. Since 1986 this Office has been moving away from the traditional style. We look for ways to make laws easier to understand, and drop conventions that have led to bad writing in the past. In this Office, the ability to draft simply is now regarded as one of the essential qualities of a good drafter." I agree. Similarly, I've noticed that during the course of the last few months as I've signed various 🇦🇺 contracts and 🇦🇺 Government agency forms ... that nearly all of them have all been drafted using plain English. It's really quite noticeable and quite a contrast from some of the 🇬🇧 contracts and agreements which I have ploughed through over recent years. MBIP is a young, dynamic and ambitious firm and the professional staff at MBIP spent several hours earlier this week receiving training on how we can present often complex technical and legal issues to our clients in plain simple English. It also sits very comfortably with our brand. #patents #mbip #intellectualproperty #plainenglish
The language used when discussing the #IntellectualProperty system can be dense and difficult to understand, filled with legal jargon. As part of our ongoing dedication to ensure improved communication and all-round understanding for clients and attorneys alike, our attorneys yesterday took part in a plain English training session. The session was lead by Bob Milstein of Words and Beyond. We at MBIP are committed to making sure that our advice is clear, concise, accurate and easy to understand.
