A while back we hosted a session about media relations and PR for FVCA - Pääomasijoittajat investor members, sharing our insights on successful media communications. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank you for the FVCA team for helping with the organising of the event. Our CEO Anna shared the following tips, among others, with the audience: ▪️ Creating a compelling narrative forms the crux of PR activities and sets the stage for all communication efforts. The cornerstone of a working narrative is a shared purpose where the relationship shifts from audience to co-creator. This is not telling the audience what you do, but what you can do together. ▪️ Journalist serve first and foremost their readers. At the same time many media outlets assess their success based on the amount of paying readers – during an economic downturn more than ever. PR success comes from thinking of the readers first. What would be worth reading for them? What would make them click? ▪️Journalists are invariably drawn towards exclusivity and advance information, which grants them the opportunity to delve deeper into the matter. Strategically use this to build stronger stories and relationships with the media.

Especially considering the domain similarities between Marketing and Communication(PR), more needs to be done to educate organisations.
Complicated as it is! I think there is so much of the work to be done by PRISA Southern Africa. Because so many people don’t understand what actually Public Relations is, does, or can’t do. The industry roleplayers are lossing so many opportunities in corporate and in particular small businesses. - Many small business don’t understand the value of PR. - Many don’t understand that PR Agency/firm do not exist to replace internal comms, there is a need for maximum cooporation. - Due to the pressure of the competition in the industry, PR firms agrees to KPIs that are not doable from PR point of view. Pros have no power over coversions or sales. - Many do not understand the concept of (earned media), meaning as media relations specialists we have no control over what happens in newsrooms. We get coveraged for its earned/deserved to be covered. - PR and Marketing differs but co-exist for long term common goal. There is a lot of knowledge to be shared about this industry.

Public Relations is all about consistency. I’ve always believed that PR activity needs to be done continuously - It’s not a one-off or quarterly activity. It’s why FIVE engages in various activities every month to manage the brand's reputation: ▶️ Publicising new openings, events and offers in the press, ▶️ Demonstrating thought leadership with our C-suite in industry titles, ▶️ Participating in leading conferences, ▶️ Nurturing relationships with journalists, ▶️ And winning (a lot of) awards 😉 Consistent PR efforts are essential for reassuring different stakeholders. From investors, who want confidence that their investments are safe, And guests, who want assurance that FIVE Hotels and Resorts is a vibrant place to 'Come Play,' To journalists who want the latest news to publish, And potential ‘FIVERs,' who want to work for a brand that’s pushing boundaries. It’s why the FIVE Public Relations juggernaut never stops. We don’t rest on our laurels because we’ve had strong pieces of coverage - But continue to actively pitch unique, and exclusive, story angles to keep FIVE in the spotlight. As soon as you take your foot off the ‘PR Pedal’ - That’s when your hard-earned reputation begins to fade. #PublicRelations #Communication #PersonalBranding #Hospitality

I shared my experience with Maddyness UK on building an international PR strategy. Recently, we collaborated with media outlets from the USA, UK, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, France, Ukraine and Spain. 💫The following three components are the basis for the fastest (organic) possible entry into the new information space, which we have been using in our PR agency for 10 years. In short, the formula is as follows: Company’s face – leader or person representing the company in communication + client’s cases + newshooks and actualisation. Read more in the article ✨
