A couple months ago there was a bit of a stir from challenging the CME/CPD community to think twice about predatory meetings. For those who who joined the original discussion, here is another great example of how the motivations of some meeting organizers are wholly misaligned with the attendees and the profession at large. Compare these price points to the meetings run by and for the CME/CPD professionals. Then....think about what the various the pricing segments/tiers say about the meeting's motivations and models.

Resilient....not sure I like the word anymore....as it has as many negative connotations as positive in the workforce these days, especially with the rise of burnout, exhaustion, and poor mental health being a universal issue across all industries. Oxford dictionary meaning rings true however: (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions. "babies are generally far more resilient than new parents realize" The very nature of what we do for a career makes us resilient...however, job design, workplace well-being, and taking an integrated approach to our responsibilities as an individual, a team member, and most importantly as an organisation will be necessary for a thriving future. Despite it looks like I am having a lie-down 😴 .... I am very excited to be talking about it in a BIG PICTURE sense in regards to the future of our profession on a global platform with Sarah Hoggan DVM from the USA and Andy Green from the UK next week. We all share different perspectives but have the same #commonpurpose and #goal...patient advocacy and how this melds with our people advocacy in 2024. "Should I sponsor that event?" The answer depends. I've had some colleagues say that having a booth at an event is a waste of time that results in no sales. I've seen other companies who seem to sponsor everything they can. The real answer comes down to figuring out what your return will be. There's real ROI to be had in conference exhibition, but it all depends on the specific conference and your specific business.
