In 2021, Texas Woman’s University took a monumental step forward by becoming a university system. This evolution represents not just a structural change but a strategic commitment to expanding our impact and fostering innovation in higher education. As a university system, we are better positioned to serve Texas more broadly, enhance educational accessibility, and drive greater prosperity for all. This transformation underscores our dedication to excellence and our mission to empower students through comprehensive, high-quality education. The role of a chancellor in this context extends far beyond academic leadership. It involves engaging with political landscapes, advocating for policies that support our goals, and securing resources to sustain our growth. Navigating the complexities is crucial to championing the needs of our students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring the continued success of our institution.

A Consequential Education at Gettysburg College makes an impact for our graduates long into the future. In a report by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce: ROI of Liberal Arts Colleges, Gettysburg College is ranked No. 29 and No. 32 among liberal arts colleges for 10-year and 40-year Net Present Value (NPV), respectively. Net Present Value (NPV) refers to how much a sum of money in the future is valued today when taking into account costs, future earnings, and the length of time required to invest and earn a specific amount over a fixed horizon. In an analysis of 40-year return on investment (ROI) of 4,500 colleges and universities, Gettysburg ranks in the top 1% in the nation among liberal arts colleges for lifetime ROI, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. Huston-Tillotson University (HT) recently unveiled its strategic plan for the next decade.  Approved by the HT Board of Trustees, the plan, titled “From First to Foremost: Huston-Tillotson University 2024-2034,” is the culmination of an inclusive process that spanned several months and included the gathering of input from representatives of several key stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, community and business leaders and local elected officials. “Our 10-year plan establishes a clear, long-term vision for HT,” said Melva K. Wallace, who is completing her second year as the university’s 7th president. “It is the blueprint that we will use during the next ten years to solidify our position not only as a premier historically Black university, but as a top institution of higher education in the state of Texas.
