It's a hard fact of #democracy that we won't always win. When we create systems for ongoing engagement, the power we build doesn't disappear after a loss – it can even expand. It's not about building power for power's sake. It's about building power that bends the nation toward #equity, #fairness, and #justice. Listen to the latest episode of Reimagining Democracy for a Good Life – The We in Po(we)r.
Multiracial organizing doesn’t mean we always get along. The organizers and activists in Los Angeles know this. But when intentions are aligned, multiracial coalitions can work together toward policies that benefit all. Explore this in the latest chapter of #ReimaginingDemocracy for a Good Life – The We in Po(we)r. “𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝.” The world isn’t black and white. Asbjorn Rachlew, who led the interrogation of Anders Breivik after Norway’s most horrific mass killing, knows how easily we fall prey to our own biases. The rush to judgment, the temptation to confirm our first instinct, is a universal human impulse. But when the stakes are high, taking a moment to challenge our assumptions might just make the difference between a bad decision and a great one. How often do you slow down enough to recognise your biases, take them by the collar, and confront them? It’s not easy. The truth is, our brains are wired for shortcuts. With a world filled with noise, our instinct is to simplify, to grab onto something that makes sense quickly and stick with it. But, if there’s one takeaway from this episode, it’s that the art of decision-making is also the art of challenging yourself—to not only know more but to think more deeply about what you think you know. You can catch the latest episode of The Art of Deciding wherever you get your podcasts. https://lnkd.in/eBGJ4FHk
