We recently wrapped up our Spring Skills-Based Service Series with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where dedicated volunteers supported our Health Justice Nonprofits. Natalie Williams FSA, MAAA and her team worked with the Cape Cod Council Of Churches (CCCC), an incredible organization empowering others through a partnership of Christian ministries. The project focused on developing a benefits framework for CCCC’s staff. The volunteers, including Natalie, supported CCCC in understanding how to identify and systematically compare benefits offerings. This collaboration highlights the powerful impact of skills-based volunteering. Thank you, Natalie and all the volunteers, for making a difference and supporting our community partners! #SkillsBasedVolunteering #HealthJustice #VolunteerImpact #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsibility

Helping nonprofit leaders to save the world by curating a Board of Directors that will drive impact, financial stability, and long-term sustainability
92% of nonprofits have budgets under $1 million a year. 88% are under $500,000. With this in mind, the level of financial expertise and strategizing required to lead one of these organizations is not going to be as significant as what is required to lead a $20M agency. Smaller nonprofits tend to be local – addressing issues in their community. These agencies are probably looking to attract volunteers in that community, who have the expertise of understanding the environment, and passion for fixing critical social issues. In my experience, this makes smaller nonprofits great places for “beginner board members” to learn the ropes of serving as a governance volunteer. Are you currently a board member? How did you get started? What was it about the organization that made you motivated to support them?

The Generosity Commission’s report, Everyday Actions, Extraordinary Potential: The Power of Giving and Volunteering, was just published. The report analyzes current trends and offers nine actionable recommendations to inspire and strengthen everyday giving and volunteering with nonprofits. Helping nonprofit leaders to save the world by curating a Board of Directors that will drive impact, financial stability, and long-term sustainability
Did you know that the current national value of a volunteer hour is estimated at $33.49? This figure, highlighted by Independent Sector, serves as a powerful reminder of the incredible contributions volunteers make to our communities and organizations. Volunteers bring more than just their time—they bring skills, passion, and a dedication that often goes beyond what we can measure in dollars. Whether it’s through nonprofits, community initiatives, or professional networks, their efforts have a tangible economic impact, saving resources that can be redirected to furthering vital missions. I also believe that this valuation challenges us to think about how we can better recognize, support, and engage volunteers in our own spheres. How can we harness this value more effectively and how can we ensure volunteers feel the true worth of their contributions? #Volunteerism #CommunityImpact #NonprofitLeadership #VolunteerRecognition #SocialGood
