"Cities Aren't Unwritten" In her 2018 article in the Tyee, Melody Ma argues that "cities are not blank canvases. They are organic living beings that reflect their people and their cultures, histories and aspirations." This is her counterpoint to the massive Oakridge Mall redevelopment in the heart of Vancouver, which she sees as "part of a global pattern of imposing formulaic, placeless mega-developments." Given the importance of partnerships and collaboration to achieve this goal, the City wants to work with residents, community organizations, and industry to inform our 10-year strategy. For this first phase of consultation, residents of Toronto are invited to complete an online survey at toronto.ca/circulareconomy by July 28. If you are a researcher or represent a business, community agency, environmental group, and would like to provide input on the project, please contact hello@saffy.ca to receive a link for the subject matter expert/industry specific survey. The City is also creating a Community Advisory Committee made up of community members and residents who will provide feedback, opinions, and guidance on the project.
