While we eagerly look forward to our current and upcoming Project-Based Learning programs, we would like to take a moment to recognize the sponsors and participants of our successful Fall PBL programs 👏 Last month, four outstanding students completed the CACI International Inc and Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) Project-Based Learning program. Please join us in congratulating Namita Shashidhar from Virginia Tech, Rachel Wang and Hamsini Sivalenka from George Mason University, and Emily Seepes from Old Dominion University for successfully completing this project. We can’t wait to see the incredible things you’ll accomplish in the future! 🎉 A huge thank you to CACI International Inc for collaborating with CCI once again and for providing these students with this priceless opportunity. The World Economic Forum reports that "There is a global shortage of nearly 4 million cyber professionals - 71% of organizations have unfilled cybersecurity positions" https://lnkd.in/gpQFCRFe Not in Winnipeg, Sisler Cyber Academy continues to develop students that compete at the highest level with Seconday and Post-Seconday Cyber Degree programs in North America! check out Jasroop Singh post on his teams success Jed Manaloto Hans Rivera Winnipeg School Division
This past month, my peers and I at Sisler Cyber Academy had the incredible opportunity to be among the first Canadian competitors in the National Cyber League (NCL), a prestigious U.S.-exclusive competition hosted by Cyber Skyline. The competition focused on advanced cybersecurity challenges, including log analysis, password cracking, digital forensics, and identifying hackers using forensic data. In my first attempt, I scored 1000+ points in the individual game. As a team, we achieved remarkable success, ranking 9th in the high school bracket against 100 U.S. high schools and placing in the top 100 overall out of 1000 U.S. college and high school teams. This experience was a great opportunity to develop technical skills and collaborate with talented teammates on challenging, real-world problems!

Vanderbilt University announced the launch of its Vanderbilt University Institute of National Security, led by Paul M. Nakasone, former director of the National Security Agency, former commander of U.S. Cyber Command and retired four-star general. "The launch of the institute is timely to address one of our nation’s most pressing national security challenges: a talent crisis. In a message published by the White House, Seeyew Mo, the assistant national cyber director for cyber workforce, training and education, wrote: “In our increasingly digital world, demand for cyber talent is only going to grow. We are at a crucial point where we all must work together—across the federal government, private sector, academia and nonprofits, and other stakeholders.” https://lnkd.in/emcsXb6c

With a focus on practical, real-world applications of coursework, university capstone projects play a vital role in preparing students for the world of professional work. TIAA was proud to partner with University at Albany's College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity (CEHC) over the last several months in designing and delivering a Cybersecurity capstone project for over two dozen of the school’s seniors, including 120 hours of coursework and direct interaction with TIAA cyber leaders. Over the course of the capstone, CEHC students worked in teams to prepare a loss prevention and incident response plan. Representing TIAA’s cybersecurity team on the project, Riley Dugan was “thrilled to work with UAlbany this Fall Semester to delight our client and share our expertise.” The Information Security Analyst continued, “by partnering with UAlbany, we have the opportunity to empower future cybersecurity leaders through a hands-on capstone project that bridges academic learning with real world challenges, fostering innovation and building a pipeline of skilled professionals.” Congrats to the two best-in-class award winners and all the other student participants.
