Local Area Superintendent at Canada Post / Postes Canada Ward 4 Candidate YXE Civic Election 2024 It’s Time for Change! The Time is Now!
WEST SIDE UNITY Do you feel like the west side of Saskatoon is neglected? Do you feel our current councillors for the west side have lost their focus on supporting us? Do you feel your voice is not being heard because some councillors have either checked out or are too focused on their self serving agenda items (ie. DEED) rather than wanting to listen to what their constituents have to say? If you answered yes to the questions above, trust me, you’re not alone. Many are frustrated with how the west side has lost its voice completely. Our current council is more focused on fulfilling legacy projects and personal agenda items while forgetting what their role is on council, to serve the people. We need to gain strength back on the west side. We need councillors in place that will hear what you have to say and focus on making the west side a thriving and vibrant community. This includes: ⁃ working closely with businesses on the west side to not only keep them here but also attract new ones. I am proud to be a part of a new Saskatoon West Business Association that was created to do just that. ⁃ Actively involved in each community association to listen and hear everyone’s needs and concerns and actioning those items in a timely manner as best as possible. This helps grow and bring communities together. ⁃ Be involved and stand strong on not only ward issues but those of the west side. ⁃ Do everything possible to not let neighbourhoods die but rather grow and thrive by investing back into them. Remove barriers and action items quickly to get resolution rather than just keep talking and talking about them as they continue to worsen in front of us. As a long time west side resident I see the need for our voice to actually be heard. Enough of being ignored. We have had multiple term councillors have the time and chance to make change and to no surprise, nothing changes. If anything, it’s getting worse. That is why, if elected, I will committ to being present, active and engaged with my constituents and the community. We need to get our west side voice back. On November 13, let’s make that change happen! #youneedtobeheardiwanttolisten #itstimeforchangethetimeisnow

We believe that when it comes to developing space for change, the communities we affect often have the greatest ability to see a project’s potential. It’s why we go out and speak to people, conduct thorough public engagement and online surveys to fully understand what’s going to make an impact on their experience. And at the end of the project we check that we’ve done what we’ve promised to do. Is our societal #trust in decline? Many polls suggest yes. It can feel like a monumental task to start rebuilding trust—in government, in institutions, in one another. But our research suggests there's an easier place to start: in the neighbourhood. Beyond declining trust in government, we are losing out on trust and connection within our own neighbourhoods. In Happy Cities' research, 1 in 5 people in Metro Vancouver feel that their neighbourhoods are lacking a sense of community. About 50% report low levels of trust, indicating that if they lost their wallet near to home, they didn’t think it would be returned to them. Why does it all matter? Trust and social connection are closely linked. And both are important for our wellbeing. For example, greater trust in government is associated with more caring behaviour—like getting vaccinated against the flu, and being considerate of the environment. It's in the best interests of cities to nurture trust among citizens. The easiest way to start is by involving people in shaping their own community. When people take an active role in shaping their community, they emerge with new social connections and a stronger sense of trust—in one another, and often in their government, too. Shockingly, a 2023 poll by The Daily Mail revealed that 25 per cent of Britons quizzed had not spoken to a single neighbour in the past six months with 28 per cent believing that activities and events in the street, building or area they live in would make them feel more like part of a community. 🏘️💬 Help your residents break these alarming stats by encouraging social events. By providing opportunities for residents to attend gatherings, whether it's a casual get-together or a themed party, managing agents can help break down barriers and cultivate a stronger sense of community within their developments. At In Home Media, we believe in facilitating these connections. Our digital noticeboards strategically placed in foyer areas offer managing agents a platform to promote upcoming social events and encourage resident participation. Whether it's displaying event details, RSVP options, or community announcements, our screens ensure that residents stay informed and engaged, fostering a vibrant and connected residential environment. 📺✨ Let's combat the decline in community spirit together! Are you a landlord or managing agent interested in utilising our media screens to enhance resident engagement and foster a sense of community? Let's connect and explore the possibilities! 🚀 #SmartAndConnected #CommunityEngagement #TenantExperience #InHomeMedia #BuildToRent #SocialEvents
