Attending "Unlocking Women's Power for Peace and Prosperity" 13th Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture online. As a #widowadvocate, it's vital widow leaders and voices are invited to every peace table. No greater demographic of women, than #widows, are impacted by a lack of peace in the world. They are often the #grievers and #survivors left behind to pick up the pieces of destruction and a shattered life to rebuild. Yet, widows voices are rarely invited to the table to have a perspective for the sum of the whole. The truth is until widows find peace, women will not find peace globally. We require the compassion and advocacy of figures like Melinda French Gates, Amal Clooney, and Michelle Obama for the cause of girl brides, who transform into girl #widows every day across the globe. This overlooked demographic of widows has zero representation and remains among the least advocated for groups. It's a crucial and under-addressed crisis in #genderequality.
