Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day. It's an opportunity to remember those lost to suicide and to offer support to those who are struggling and grieving. The key message is: 'We all have a role to play'. We can all contribute by staying connected, supporting those around us and helping those in need find the assistance they require. Make an effort today – and every day – to check in with those around you by asking, 'Are you OK?'. A single conversation can have a profound impact. #ruokanyday #WSPD2024

A topic most people are afraid to talk about out simply because they believe if they ask… they will plant a seed. Reframe - asking allows the person to release the tension they are holding in their body which can create a sense of relief. You may not know what to say next and that is okay. Simply say ask them what they need. Thank you for telling. Do you want me to listen? Are you looking for suggestions or advice on the thing that is causing you pain? (Could be relationship issues, could be work or financial issues, or could be self-worth issues) Do you want company and we can watch a movie, go for a walk, or play a game? #SuicidePreventionMonth #SuicidePreventionWeek #SuicidePrevention #EmbraceTheDarknessLLC

National Suicide Prevention Week is right around the corner! I am grateful every single day that I got ASIST certified (thru LivingWorks). I have the tools I need to be useful to a friend, a loved one, or a complete stranger in the event of a suicidal crisis. I have actually used these skills in my real life! Just like knowing CPR... I feel more comfortable, confident, and prepared moving through life with these skills in my back pocket. Know this FACT: Suicide is preventable. Recognize this MYTH: "Asking someone if they are suicidal will only encourage them to carry out their suicide plan." This is patently false. If your gut is telling you that someone is having thoughts of suicide, asking them straight up if they are thinking about ending their life creates an opportunity for conversation and understanding. Know this number: 9-8-8. It's just like dialing 9-1-1, but for a mental health crisis, and it works in every single U.S. state and territory. Read the peer-reviewed research. Learn the warning signs. Know safe messaging. Look out for each other. And as always... reach out if you need me! #SuicideSafeCommunities #SuicideAwareness

September is Suicide Awareness Month. May we all be more in tune this month to the fact that we don't know the battles other people are fighting. And, may we give ourselves a little grace, as well; if you feel things are hopeless or no one cares, please get help today. Suicide Prevention Hotline: Dial 988 anywhere in the USA, at any time of day and there will be someone there to listen, support and help you. #wecare #youmattertoo #begentletoyourself #begentletoothers #suicidepreventionmonth
