New research confirms that community consultation and engagement practices vary wildly across the UK. It also highlights that many people and communities have never been consulted with on planning issues. Every nation in the UK is affected by poor consultation and engagement practices, making the planning process, at times, undemocratic. But we are well-equipped with knowledge about how to do consultation and engagement well, and there is great enthusiasm for change.
