This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. It takes a community, working together, to nourish our neighbors! Act with Action House by volunteering, hosting a drive, or donating to support our work! For the last 14 years, Denny's has raised funds toward ending childhood hunger through the generosity of our guests, which has helped us provide $13.6 million to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry since 2011. It’s an amazing community effort and a need that we don’t take lightly – donations help remove barriers that prevent kids from getting the meals they need to succeed. But one company, alone, cannot solve this critical issue across our country; it takes collective action to drive change. That’s why I am honored to share that I have joined No Kid Hungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer Hunger. Alongside incredible leaders across industries like Darin Harris, Danny Meyer, Barry McGowan and Charles Watson, CFE, we are joining forces to help create a future where every child has access to three nutritious meals, 365 days a year. By joining this pledge, we commit to mobilize our brands by investing dollars, raising awareness, and using our platforms to help increase the number of children receiving summer meals from 2.8 million to 30 million nationwide. This pledge is a call to action to lead by example. I hope that you’ll consider joining me in this important cause to ensure a brighter future for tomorrow’s leaders. #NoKidHungry #Dennys

September is Hunger Action Month. While our mission to get every worker in America fed and ultimately, end hunger is year-round, we are calling for all hands on deck this month. According to Feeding America, 1 in 8 people in the United States face hunger. That's over 44 million Americans – including 9 million children – who don't always know where their next meal will come from. That’s a sobering statistic, and it's indicative of an issue that requires consistent, collective efforts to combat. So, how can you get involved? Here are a few ways: 🤝 Volunteer at a local food bank or soup kitchen – See if your friends or coworkers want to join! 🤝 Organize a food drive in your workplace or neighborhood 🤝 Donate to organizations that combat hunger – Consider setting up a monthly contribution, or work with mission-driven companies like Sharebite. 🤝 Advocate for your representatives to develop and support policies that address food insecurity 🤝 Share information about local food resources on your social channels An individual action might feel small, but every step we take tangibly improves the lives of people in our communities who need it most. Join us in the fight against food insecurity not only this month, but all year long. Together, we can alleviate hunger across America. #HungerActionMonth #GiveBack #Community

The rising costs of living paired with the expiration of some Pandemic benefits have intensified food insecurity across southwestern Pennsylvania as families work to meet basic needs. Calls to our PA 211 Southwest resource hotline has seen a 50% increase in food assistance inquiries over the past year. Between 2021 and 2022, the annual survival budget for a family of four in Pennsylvania rose to nearly $89,000 from $80,000. “This budget reflects only the basics and no extras,” says Jen Schuchart, director of meeting basic needs. “Folks who are working full-time or multiple jobs are having to make these difficult choices of whether to pay rent or feed themselves and their children. That’s 40% of our five-county region.” Read more to learn how United Way and local nonprofit organizations are working hand-in-hand to fight food insecurity in our community: https://lnkd.in/ez6myb4Y.

So glad to be part of an organization that steps up to make a difference! September is #HungerActionMonth — how is #TeamCVS working to support access to nutritious food in the communities we serve? 👇 🍎 Food insecurity is a widespread problem and continues to rise post-pandemic, according to the latest studies from nonprofit, Feeding America, but a unique approach is needed to meet the needs of different communities. 🥕 That's why CVS Health and the CVS Health Foundation have granted nearly $1.5 million to nine community organizations across the country working to combat hunger, providing food insecurity solutions unique to respective communities. 🥪 Through this tailored approach, we're helping more people in our communities have access to nutritious food — so they can better focus on their overall health and well-being. https://lnkd.in/eHBqf294

June is National Hunger Awareness month, with "more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States who are struggling with hunger", according to SaveTheChildren.org. At Grocery Dealz, part of our Christian driven mission, is too help those struggling with hunger or food insecurity.
