At Community Alcohol Partnerships, we know how important it is to engage young people in meaningful activities. That's why we encourage local partnerships to assess the leisure options available to young people in their area by asking them what they'd like to do and finding ways to increase their choices and access. Many CAPs work closely with youth clubs, sports facilities, youth buses, and local cafés to create safe, supervised spaces where young people can meet, have fun, and build confidence. These activities not only boost their health and wellbeing but also offer a great opportunity for informal alcohol education. By providing enjoyable, positive activities with a supportive peer group, we believe we can take a big step in addressing underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. Our team of CAP advisers have a wealth of experience, some are ex-Police force while others have joined us after teaching careers or roles in strategic comms, not for profits and Trading Standards. This morning sees the offical launch of the latest CAP in Gleadless Valley, South Yorkshire. There are now more that 280 CAPs across England, Scotland and Wales working to tackle #underagedrinking and the associated risks in local communities.
