Starting December 9, 2024, the structure of the CMCA exam will shift from eight core knowledge domains to six. The updated CMCA exam will place a heavier emphasis on Property Maintenance and Meetings & Events, while reducing the focus on Contracting and eliminating the Human Resources domain altogether. In August, the CAI Heartland Chapter and the CAI Missouri Legislative Action Committee initiated a lawsuit challenging a sweeping omnibus law that includes a provision prohibiting Missouri community associations from banning homeowners who want to own and raise chickens in their communities. The chapter and LAC argue the new chicken law infringes on their associations' rights, and the suit seeks to assert the rights of homeowners associations in Missouri. A visit to artist Edward Fuglø's "Whale Wars" sculpture at a gallery in the Faroe Islands taught innovation advisor Larry Robertson about the value of leaning into conversations after having to physically lean into speakers near the installation to hear sounds of the sea and people talking.
