Community Connections, Inc.’s Post

Wednesday night January 24th, Community Connections, Inc. staff from Homeless Outreach and PSH tenant and unit based teams, participated in the Point-in-Time (PIT) Count from 8:30pm-2am. The PIT Count creates a "snapshot" census of residents living on the streets, encampments and under bridges in our city. This data from the street count is combined with the PIT counts conducted at morning meal programs, transitional housing and shelters to reach the total homeless population for the District. All this data provides demographics and pertinent information on individuals experiencing homelessness. The District of Columbia is one of hundreds of communities across the country that conduct a PIT Count to secure federal homeless funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). By collecting this information we can better target resources and be more efficient toward our goal of ending homelessness in our community.
