Would you take a moment to tell us what you’re grateful for? This community is everything to us — here’s what we’re thankful for: Our coworkers, whose compassion for each other, dedication to local food systems, and day-in, day-out drive make the Co-op thrive. This town, which has supported cooperative values since we opened our doors nearly 55 years ago, in 1970. You’ve allowed us to grow from a small buying club to two stores with more than 250 employees. Our Board of Directors, who share their wisdom and expertise to help guide our cooperative vision. The hundreds of local farmers, fishers, ranchers and makers who pour their hearts into creating the exceptional products on our shelves. And of course, our member-owners. Without you, our crazy dream of cooperative ownership would not be possible. Thank you. After a busy month of helping put good, wholesome food on your Thanksgiving table, our staff is taking Thursday off to be with friends and family. We’ll reopen Friday morning and look forward to seeing you then. Happy Thanksgiving!

"Remember -- your love for bacon can make a big difference!" Funny, but true. There is a serious side to this too. The Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank is a great organization, and symbolic of many which are responding to food insecurity in our communities. In our particular case our Bank serves, at some point during the year, about 5 percent of our county's population - distributing $5M of food across 16,000+ guest encounters. All of this is made possible by roughly 120 volunteers whose work seems never ending. Those we serve are primarily referred to as ALICE (asset-limited, income-constrained, and employed). In other words, neighbors in situations where one car repair, medical bill, or unexpected expense can force a difficult decision about food. A full 40 percent of those we serve in a year come only once. 70 percent receive food from us four times or less in a year. In our county, and probably yours too, up to 35 percent of our residents fall into the ALICE classification. Those are really staggering numbers when you think about them. And food for thought as well (sorry). If all those numbers seem daunting, come and celebrate some bacon with us! 😁 #foodinsecurity #foodbank #neighborshelpingneighbors

Megan, What's this HorseSense thing you have on the menu? Where is HorseSense?? What's this all about??? Here's what it's all about: HorseSense is an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with and without disabilities through a friendship with the horse. They strive to improve the bodies, minds and spirits of riders by providing weekly therapeutic horseback riding lessons! There are several benefits youth and adults with cognitive, physical and psychological disabilities experience throughout lessons as they master their riding skills. Sitting astride a horse increases balance and coordination, strengthens muscles and brings about body awareness, for example. And through complex, interactive lessons, riders practice their speech, reading and problem-solving skills as they learn to follow instructions. Other benefits include: improved reflexes, weight-bearing ability, range of motion, stamina, hand-eye coordination, sensory integration, left/right discrimination, decision-making, independence, patience, physical fitness and responsibility. Do you love when you donation dollars stay in our area? Do you love to give back to veterans? Are children's charities something you're passionate about? Come check this unique fundraiser out! We'll see you tomorrow at Horstman Homestead Farms! When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

In Texas, Whataburger is more than a fast-food restaurant; it is a cultural icon representing local pride. Founded in Corpus Christi in 1950, it has become a favorite for Texans seeking quality burgers and personalized service. After Hurricane Beryl caused widespread power outages, many used the Whataburger app to find open locations, acting as an informal power outage map. This innovative use strengthened community bonds during a challenging time. However, on November 20, 2024, Nearby Systems LLC filed a lawsuit alleging that the app infringes several patents, including US Pat. No. 9,532,164. Happy Friday!! 😀 IT'S NATIONAL DONUT🍩 DAY!! Author | C. Knighten Every on the 1st Friday in June, we celebrate National Donut Day! One of the most loved fried confections nation wide.....we get to indulge on this day without guilt! HISTORY OF NATIONAL DONUT DAY: We can credit the Salvation Army for helping us celebrate this delicious day! During World War I, a group of volunteers were tasked with providing the soldiers with comforting meals at the frontlines. With limited means to cook, they decided that donuts were their best option. In fact, utensils and pots to cook in were not easy to come by and they discovered that helmets would fry up seven donuts at a time! Later, these brave volunteers were given the nickname “donut lassies”. National Donut Day was established in 1938, as a way to honor those brave members of the Salvation Army for coming to the aid of our troops during World War I. Today, many donut shops appreciate the opportunity to celebrate National Donut Day on the first Friday of June. Many donut shops offer specials or even a 'free' donut on this day! GREAT WAYS TO CELEBRATE THIS DAY: 🍩 Bring Donuts to the Office! If you want to be a hit with the boss and the rest of your team, bring in some hot Krispy Kremes! MMM, MMMM! 😋 🍩 Try a new recipe! Truthfully, donuts are not that difficult to make at home. There are also several types of donuts, from dough and 'cake' to potato🥔donuts....yes, you read that right: Potato Donuts. Look up the recipe and don't waste your leftover mashed taters next time! 🍩Try something new! If you have more than one donut shop in town, give another shop a visit. You never what delicious confections they may have cooked up! So, what is your favorite! Regular glazed, raspberry filled, or something more exotic like a maple bacon? Whatever it is be sure to give a shout on social media 📲for your favorite shop....they will certainly appreciate it! #deancommercialrealestate #commercialrealestate #propertymanagement #investors #retail #medicaloffices #leases #propertyinvestors #warehouses #huntsville #madison #athens
