I have been a critic of traditional scholarship programs for quite some time now. However, when we're strategic, and intentional, and take the road less travelled, we can help our donors change lives. Ashley, a single mother and non-traditional student, is our latest success story. https://lnkd.in/gZtepkX7

Our Legacy Society members enjoyed one another’s company at Mannina's Italian Restaurant and then saw Fiddler on the Roof at Thumbcoast Live Theaters last week! We love opportunities like this to thank those in our community who have thoughtfully planned to give back to our community through their estate and the Community Foundation. Their foresight and dedication is truly inspiring and appreciated! To learn more about our Legacy Society: https://lnkd.in/ggpWv56E
I love nights like we had last week with our Legacy Society members! For the past few years, we've put together a fun social outing to enjoy the company of those who have made the greatest gifts for our community, a planned gift through their estate. These amazing folks have vastly different interest areas, all love the work of our Foundation, but most of all want to give back after they’re gone. We so appreciate their forethought and have so much fun being together! It was a great evening of cheers and a show at the Boardwalk Theater! See some of the fun here: https://lnkd.in/ey3ypzKC

What a fun morning of guest hosting on WPHM! I had great guests to chat about celebrating 10 years of the Bluewater Riverwalk, that estate planning conversations can actually be fun, our local Veterans services, mental and physical health, plus giving back from your IRA! The downtowns of both Port Huron and St. Clair are enjoying the economic impact of recent placemaking projects which lure young people, couples and families to just hang out and linger. These placemaking projects; McMorran Plaza in Port Huron and the Riverview Plaza Courtyard in St. Clair – are prime examples of the economic theories behind placemaking.
Placemaking... something I'm proud to say our Foundation has done well with numerous local partners. And wow are the impacts noticeable for our downtowns!
