Weight-bearing exercise is the most important type of exercise for preventing osteoporosis. Your body supports its own weight against gravity, and the load of gravity on your bones activates bone cells to strengthen weaker areas. That is why astronauts can lose bone when they are in outer space, where gravity has much less force. Doing regular weight-bearing exercise after young adulthood can help prevent further bone loss and strengthen bone. It also strengthens your muscles and reduces your risk of falls. #BoneHealth #Osteoporosis #CHCS #GeorgiaPCA 🦴🏋️

On this International Day of #HumanSpaceFlight, we celebrate the stellar milestones that made space safer! ✨ Looking ahead, we are commitment to craft better ways to study space’s impact on the heart! 💗 In space, microgravity shifts our blood, affecting circulation and changing the volume & shape of the heart. ☢️ High radiation levels radiation risk cardiovascular diseases due to oxidative stress and inflammation. 🇪🇺 Our #EUfunded project is creating a #3Dbioprinting platform that uses acoustic and magnetic waves to craft better cardiac models in space. 🔊 + 🧲 They will be used to develop protective and mitigative solutions for astronauts and patients on earth. 🧑🚀 😷 #Bioprinting #AdditiveManufacturing #HeartDisease #Organoids #SpaceHealth #HorizonEurope #EUeic

You Won't Believe What Space Does to Your Heart | Aakash Khurana Did you know that space travel can weaken your heart muscle? 😲 The lack of gravity can lead to some serious health risks for astronauts. 💔 #SpaceHealth #HeartHealth #SpaceTravel #Microgravity #AstronautHealth #SpaceHealth #HeartHealth #SpaceTravel #Microgravity #AstronautHealth Recent studies have shown that the microgravity environment of space can cause significant changes to the human heart. These changes include: * **Weakening of heart muscle:** The heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood against gravity in space, leading to a decrease in muscle strength. * **Irregular heartbeats:** Microgravity can disrupt the normal rhythm of the heart, potentially leading to arrhythmias. * **Cellular changes:** Space travel can cause molecular and genetic changes in heart tissue that mimic the effects of aging. While these effects are more pronounced in long-duration space missions, even shorter trips can have an impact on cardiovascular health. Scientists are actively researching ways to mitigate these risks to enable future long-duration space exploration. for more info: https://lnkd.in/gRBP7cJu

In space, people often report feeling taller and experiencing less back pain. Why? The absence of gravity means there's no stress compressing their spine. Without gravity's constant pull, spinal discs have more space to decompress, reducing discomfort and potentially making astronauts feel taller. This phenomenon highlights the impact of gravity on our bodies and raises questions about how we can mitigate back pain on Earth. #SpaceHeight #BackPainRelief #ZeroGravityHealth #AstronautWellness #SpinalDecompression #SpacePhysiology #GravityEffects #BackHealth #AstronautLife #SpineComfort #SpaceScience

🌌 Did you know? When astronauts return to Earth, they often experience orthostatic intolerance. This condition makes it hard for their bodies to adjust to standing up in Earth's gravity. In space, their bodies adapt to microgravity, leading to weaker leg muscles and changes in the cardiovascular system. Once back on Earth, this can cause a significant drop in blood pressure when they stand, leading to fainting or dizziness. It takes time for their bodies to readjust and regain normal function. This phenomenon underscores the challenges of transitioning between different gravitational environments. Innovative Calories-Burner Who said the only way to burn calories is through rigorous exercise? A fascinating invention by a NASA scientist introduces a new method for weight loss – a unique vest! It cools down your body, thereby boosting your metabolism and burning up to 500 calories per day. The science is simple – our bodies work to warm up when subjected to the vest's chill, burning calories in the process. While this vest isn't a substitute for a balanced diet or regular workouts, it does enhance calorie burn during rest. Remember, there's more than one way to stay in shape! #Cplus #Innovation #HealthTech #WeightLoss #NASA
