I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with fellow panelists Jodie Toohey Andrea Carr Mark Sweeney Jerry Kennard and Jimmy Tat at the Healthcare Real Estate Summit in Sydney yesterday. I’m on a steep learning curve when it comes to property and yesterday reinforced for me the strategic importance of great “healthcare real estate” (not just hospitals) and how it plays a critical role in propelling, or hindering a healthcare organisation’s success across multiple dimensions of performance. Well architected, seismically sound and adaptive clinical environments can deliver meaningful strategic advantage, supporting healthcare teams to reimagine models of care and completely new care experiences. Key takeaways: 1. “ESG is now a ticket to play”, can no longer be cut from scope” when the money gets tight and “if you’re not designing for ESG, you’re designing for obsolesces”. 2. Healthcare real estate is no longer about space, but service experience, flexibility, and facilitation of integrated care, not simply co-located services, amen! Thanks Smeet Patel for the invitation, a fantastic event.
